that situation brings up yet another question.

Could the buyer of semi/auto pistol take the slide and barrel off, leaving the frame (serial numbered part) in the store to be held for 10 days.
Essentially taking the rest home so the gun shop cant fool with it?

I don't see why not. I take the case and mags home with me.

Although this, an SSE pistol, requires the slide to remain, otherwise there is no evidence of the single-shot conversion.

Nope, its has to be a complete pistol just like AR pistols

When I worked at Turner's we never messed with guns that were in jail, there are enough guns in the display case that we would handle all day long, it's sad to know that there are stores that allow this type of behavior, I feel for you OP, I know that other than rimfires, there shouldn't be a problem with dry firing but dry firing should only be done by the purchasing customer.

Sphinx. For some reason FFLs seem to turn into drooling animals at the sight of a Sphinx.

It's what you DIDN'T see that should bother you. Mr. Boss rubbed it on his hairy left nut after you left, just to feel the sensual pleasantries of cold steel on his warm, balmy, oily scrotum.

Of course, he was just lubing it for you.

Let us know how it shoots.

If some level of government had that information, what would they do with it? How would having that info benefit public safety? How would it benefit law enforcement?

I converted my PX4 from a model F (decocker/safety) to a G (decocker only). Employees at the store/range I go to were interested and each one handling it asked permission, which was fine. After all, I bought it used from them. It had been one of their rentals.

Once at a match I allowed a fellow competitor handle my M1A.Having been using this rifle and others like it for a few years I have some familiarity the the piece.
HE proceeds to tell me not to push down on the rear sight and demos what not to do...well he pushes the sight down and my jaw drops, and he quickly leaves the table as I take the rifle from him .
Never ever let somebody handle your firearm!
                          Keep it simple!

I'd be mad. I've had to reason a few friends to not release the slide on an empty gun too. Something about that just irks me.

I don't see the shocking part of it. It's a gun store everyone does this, just because someone works at a gun store does not necessarily mean they know what the hell they are doing. You've been to stores like Turners Big 5 and Stockade, Gun runners right. Even though just voice your concerns and then tell them you want a new untouched gun. Most places have more than one in stock.

IF that scares you imagine what they did with the gun when you were not there =]
