haha...yah maybe that golf wall will turn into a gun wall and have guns on the wall instead of the putters lol. If I do that, it would have to look like a locker/cage though. Or I can build a false wall that opens up...I have to see if the gun collection gets to that point though.

Tell me about it...I have two kids too and just found out a few weeks ago there is another one on the way. Kids are at that age where they are collecting their own clutter, bikes, scooters, soccer balls etc.

It is a struggle keeping the whole house clean not just the garage...but my wife also has OCD tics like me and she is a clean friek. We both feel like the kids are trying to break us down, although my 4 y/o daughter is showing signs of the same behavior of being clean and organized but she doesn't get it yet. Last week I told her to put some of her stuff in her room and she said "no daddy, my room is clean I don't want to put in in there" LOL.

OP, find a way to secure your guns and ammo. That wooden crate is nice but it'd be ridiculously easy to just roll that thing out of your garage door for a thief/looter.

But considering you just started your collection in Sep, I gotta tip my hat to you! Very nice acquisitions

Thanks, I was keeping all my ammo in a floor safe the previous owner put in the house...

He had two put in but they are small maybe 18" deep and 1'x3'. Problem is I don't like keeping it there. Last time I saw it open was 10 years ago when I bought the house, then when I opened it a few months ago they both had about 3 gallons of water in there. I cleaned it out and used it for about a month but I was always thinking water was going to get in there again.

Regardless, it cant fit all the ammo anyway but you make a good point, I will have to cave in and get a big safe at some point. The firearms are secured, I have two gunvaults for the pistols and a shotlock from Costco.

Golfing and guns, nice. Both are fun. I keep my golf clubs and challengers in the garage. When the kids grow up and out maybe have a "safe room" for my collection. Looking forward to shoot my G30S and a few new additions SSE's. Collecting guns is a disease. Always something new. It's actually cheaper than cars though.

Water is the enemy! That is the only thing in the world that is good about being a gun owner in California lol

Thats a good start, if you ever get a chance checkout Fort Knox pistol boxes or Controlled Access Boxes. Sturdy, simple and reliable (unlike electronic pistol safes). Pricey, but these are arguably 'safes' instead of just locked containers.

Garage

We still use the garage for my wife's car. However, when we remodeled the house, we made sure that there was plenty of room for me to pursue my hobbies. My wife is an architect and made sure that this is the case.

Anyhow .... Here is the mill.

My safe is in the garage too. This is a picture I took awhile ago. Today ... there are a lot more stuff in there. I believe that these things reproduce like bunnies!



I think I need to get me another safe.

3. Edged weapons of various types, (daggers, swords, spears etc)
4. Heavy bag

OP, you have an addictive trait. You should probably get checked out by a doctor. Ever been diagnosed with ADHD, I ask because my friend was just like that. Would get hooked on something for months, go all out and buy all kinds of stuff for it, then months later just completely drop and on to the next project.

Nice marantz receiver and collection by the way! I'm pretty sure you could lose a couple golf bags to clear up space .

I might consolidate and organize it where I only use one garage space in case I decide to get a really nice project car that is worth parking inside....I used to love working on cars but gave that up coz it was just too expensive of a hobby.

I have a long way to go and lots to learn still. I just got back from the range and my 1911 is frustrating me with stove pipes and it is probably a clocking extractor. Waiting on an extractor and OS firing pin stop to arrive...last session I went thru about 200 rounds with no issue after I re-tensioned the extractor but now the problem is back...cant wait for these darn parts. Learning a lot from the 1911 forums and this forum.

So the golf thing - I have been hooked for about 10+ years now. But yes the other stuff I am like your friend - the mountain bike thing lasted about 6 months, RC cars same thing. Did your friend get help and get better?

I do have an addictive personality, I have learned to stay away from gambling - I used to be a big gambler. I know better not to ever try any drugs, I thank God I have no tolerance for alcohol so I don't drink. I do smoke a lot though...
