Just to add to what others are saying. I bought a 92 from a Calgunner here and its been super fun and reliable not to mention accurate. It is easy to rack and getting smoother by the day.
But its probably too large. Maybe the compact version will work?Last edited by Sousuke; 11-23-2014, 9:59 PM.Everyone on Calguns keeps talking about TDS. I never knew we had so many fish keepers!
The TDS on my 10gallon tanks 110ppm
The TDS on my 29 gallon tank is 150ppm (due to substrate)Comment

Why do you frequent Calguns.net? It appears that you know everything there's to know regarding pistols...I guess you missed it when I stated 17+yrs in the Marines and that I had indeed handled brand new 92s. In my current job as a civilian I have been around active/former military ALL day long for the last 20 years and not once have I ever heard any of them comment that the M9 is a "great" pistol. Heck I only know one guy in all that time that even bought one. Most conversations center around 1911s followed by Glocks and lately M&Ps.
Sure it would, you really don't know much about the military do you. The military is VERY resistant to change when it comes to weapons and as long as something is "adequate" it will continue in service.
That being said, it appears the 92 is no longer considered even "adequate" by our military, as the Marines just bought a bunch of 1911s and the Army (and thus the other services as well) is soliciting bids for a NEW pistol. One that by the spec's given, the 92 definitely isn't in the running for.
As to the 92s "popularity" I would venture it is WAY back in the pack and barely a blip on the radar behind 1911s, Glock, S&W, SA, Ruger, etc and that once Beretta looses the military contracts it might even be canceled."Most people understand that guns deter criminals. If a killer were stalking your family, would you feel safer putting a sign out front announcing, "This Home Is a Gun-Free Zone"? But that is what the Westroads Mall did" (in Omaha, Neb).

IMHO smaller (subcompact) pistol get a little tougher to rack because some of the springs are inherently designed to deal with the recoil of a much smaller platform.
ie, a subcompact glock 26 and an S&W sheild take a little more force than say a glock 17 or 19.
I .380 would suggest a revolver.Comment

Striker fire and "safe action" pistols have become so much the rage that folks have actually forgotten about a lot of the DA/SA guns. A handgun like the M9 or P226 can be much easier to rack the slide of if you manually cock the hammer first. I know of a (VERY) well respected military unit that teaches their folks to manually cock the hammer on their P226's before doing a press-check, to make pulling the slide back easier.
I was at work the other day where a buddy had a guy pull out a very realistic looking BB gun and point it at him, pulling the trigger the whole time. My friend kept hearing the clicking sound of the trigger, and surmised it must not be a real gun, because a "real gun" like a Glock, won't keep going "click" if you pull the trigger over and over. I tell this story to illustrate that the newer folks are so ingrained in striker fire weapons that they forget that isn't the only type.Comment

that belongs in Gun-Add-On-Hall Of Shame
IMO.
I see some n00b pulling it back with finger and with finger still in hole firing the gun and breaking finger, and laughter from off camera.
If you need that Add-On, stick to knife or club or pepper spray, or get a dog.Am I a good shot!?!, YEAH I'M A GOOD SHOT!....i just got bad aimComment

As an armorer I've seen ONE locking block break and it was one of the old ones. It hadn't been replaced because it had slipped through or they weren't supposed to be replaced until they broke. I think it was the latter. Our battalions pistols were pretty beat up and I have never seen a cracked slide nor did they really have many problems other than random jams that can happen to any guns. It also could have been we actually made sure they were all good unlike a lot of other armories.
I like the M9 because it was something I put my faith in and has yet to let me down. My INOX has something like 1500 rounds and still looks as new as when I bought it with the exception of some holster wear from working security and a small Mar on the front of the slide from it hitting something. I've put all kinds of ammo from cheap steel cased to high end rounds and it still shoots accurately. Hey but to each their ownUSMC '05-'09 - 2111 - Keeper Of The Cold Steel

I have never seen a woman or anyone else have any problem firing a double action revolver.
I have seen several women experience real difficulty operating a semi-automatic pistol.Originally posted by cockedandglockedGetting called a DOJ shill has become a rite of passage around here. I've certainly been called that more than once - I've even seen Kes get called that. I haven't seen Red-O get called that yet, which is very suspicious to me, and means he's probably a DOJ shill.Comment

My wife can rack my XD9, and my Shield. She also has no issue with 1911-style guns, so maybe a 4" RIA 9mm? or a Sig P938?My wife has a S&W M&P 9mm but recently does not have the strength to rack that semi-auto anymore.
She can rack my Ruger SR22 OK (22LR) but since we are both heading towards getting a CCW permit I'd like to get her another smaller 9mm that she can rack successfully.
I do have a Ruger SP101 snubbie revolver but she would prefer to have more rounds and faster reloading (mag) if needed so a semi-auto is the preferred gun.
Anybody have some first hand experience on which 9mm would be the easiest?...or any other suggestions?
Thanks.Comment
