I'm a bit old school, I'd go with a P226 or 229, but that would be for me. It has to come down to what she is most comfortable/confident with. What model of sig are you talking p320 or? I also know not to skimp on the holster. She just got a new rig everything's bianchi accu mold basket weave with hidden snaps. Everything except the holster. Which will probably be next after the new weapon is acquired. In which case will probably be a level three: serpa or safari land but its gotta be basket weave.Comment

Ummmmm ...
You would kind of have to know which holster to buy based on the gun you own ... correct?
How much does your wife really know about guns? Many times has she shot a gun?
Just reading the posts ... it seems like there isn't a whole lot of gun knowledge in that household ... and yet, she will be an armed guard here fairly quickly.
She needs to buy a gun that feels good in her hand.
And then she needs to take herself and that gun to some lengthy training ASAP. The OP should, by all means, join her.Comment

She should carry the gun that she shoots best, in a reliable caliber I.E., at least 9mm.It doesn't matter how scary, ugly, uncomfortable, or inconvenient self defense can be. Like it or not, you will never, ever be relieved of your duty and responsibility to defend your life, your family, your country and your freedom.
How much ammo do I need? Enough to last me the rest of my life, and then lot more for later.

I personally prefer the Springfield XD series if she wants a Polymer gun. I own the XD9 and have also shot the XD in .45acp. I have never shot the XD in .40 S&W.
I have never carried 'On duty'. I am only recommending the gun based on how it feels in my hands.
Good luck.

They make the Safariland 6280 in basketweave for all sorts of guns. Excellent holster, way way better then a Serpa.
You're kidding right? You said "duty weapon for armed security guard".
That mod list sounds like a wannabe competition gun and will make her look like a Mall Ninja.
First up the differences in the G22 vs G23 are IMO not worth it being a duty gun that is open carried for the minimal amount of weight that is saved. BTW you know the lighter the pistol the more recoil right?
Green Laser.. not really needed but could be justified.. If she "needs" a laser I'd advocate more training over the purchase of a laser. Any ways its added weight that messes with your other weight cutting ideas.
Night sights.. ok thats fine.
3.5 trigger.. most will say not on a duty weapon but I have seen PD's that run G34 and G35... But still I don't think a security guard needs it.
Salient arms barrel... the most WTH thing on this list. What in the world do you think this is going to do for her over a stock barrel? Some will also argue that its not a good idea to swap out a barrel on a duty gun.
Ever heard of the old what if she is on trial and they ask why the gun has all these aftermarket features debate?
I think you have let your imagination run wild with what cool things you can slap onto it and come in under the budget number. Step back and see what is actually needed for the job... not what would make a fun range gun.
BTW does her company have any rules on what can be carried (including accessories and modifications)? Might want to look into that...Comment

I would say try out an XDm, but being that you all are in the people's republic down there, may have to say check out an XD .40.
I like my H&K USP .40 as well.
As an OWNER of a private security firm here in WA state, my guards are required to keep their weapons STOCK. Yeah, that's all I need is one of your home brew ebay mods to your gun coming up in a civil case after the shooting. Lawyers will spin anything, even if us people in the know here, know the modification is safe.

Go to the range and rent a Glock, XD, and an M&P. Let her figure it out. Maybe change the sights if needed. Invest the savings into a new Safari Land holster that is compatible with a tac light. Forget the laser and new barrel.
Spend whats left on ammo. Done deal.Comment
