    theres a time and a place.... even i have an old stand up lockable glass door display case....... what might be in there at particular times is different from whats not in there when anyone is not home.

    who are others to pass judgement.... or advocate right from wrong in their own perception. those who might wine post theft will find little sympathy but to say it is a practice that is of a bygone era is to assume a lot of factors. This thread is full of assumptions and theoretical debate

        I loved looking at my grandfather's stuff through the glass. Unfortunately that wasn't enough security to keep them safe and he lost them all in one fell swoop. It was devastating.

        Plus there was no fire protection at all.

        If I want to show off the collection, I pull it all out. Otherwise it all stays locked away.

          In a state that is soft on criminals a safe is the minimum protection needed.
