Your Bedside Safe Situation?

^^^^Worst advice ever.
Hiding guns or putting them up high does not stop children from finding or reaching them, ever. If a child accesses your gun, you are criminally liable. This means prison for those of you on the slower side.
Your kids might be perfect. How about the kids they bring over?
Put a little effort and a few $ into securing your guns.

If it wasn't made clear enough I do own a safe which stays locked when I am out of the house or when I see fit which obviously includes when other children are over. Not to mention I have a lock on my bedroom door. My response was in reference to a middle of the night hd situation. Of course a shelf is not a substitute for a decent safe 24/7

I keep my carry gun in my night stand with me and it goes with me when I leave the house or I lock it in my 48 gun safe. I should get a small safe

Has anyone bought or tried out a Titan gun safe? I've seen them at gun shows and wonder if they're any good. Looks like they're all mechanical.

After hearing about some scary home invasion stories (some of them from people who experienced it themselves), I keep a dummy safe and handgun next to my nightstand, while keeping my loaded handgun very close nearby with a reach of the hand while I'm in bed.... and it's still secured.

The stories I've heard dealt with the intruder finding the weapon at the home owner's bedside and using it on them (not shooting them, but pistol-whipping or holding them at gun point). I'm a deep sleeper so I keep a cheap metal safe open at night with an unloaded Glock next to my bed (with firing pin removed from the slide) so anybody who grabs it and tries to use it will have a hunk of metal & plastic in their hand.

Granted that may be rare or sound paranoid on my part, but it doesn't take much to do any extra precautions in the house. Just like adding fake security cameras around your house in plain view, while hiding the real ones nearby.

I keep a 44 special revolver in a small safe in night stand locked. I'm trying to find a way to keep my shot gun nearby but with a lock that's quick release but kidproof.

I have three little children in the house. 3 HD pistols. At night, the pistols come out and the kids get locked up in the closet. LOL! JK.

No kids, but the pistols are in a bedside Gunvault.
