        No kids, no safe.

        Double barrel 12 gauge bedside and 686 with flashlight laser combo in nightstand.

        Wife has S&W 38 with laser grips on night stand, 20 gauge double barrel in her corner.

        12 gauge pump 6 feet away in closet as well...

        ADT alarms, security screens, Motion detectors lights all around and two English Bull Terriers.

        I sleep well at night!

        Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;

        The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
        The best lack all conviction, while the worst
        Are full of passionate intensity.

          It's made with bolt holes in the bottom to secure it down.

          Or, alternately, makes a great legal car pistol tote...

            I have the hornady rapid safe. I've tested it at least 150 times in the last month. It has worked EVERYONE time. And I test it every night before bed. Bolted right to my night stand. I got it for $183 shipped.
            I have a 18 month old. As soon as he started messing with the drawer locks I knew it was time to stop procrastinating.
            I move my gun to the big safe when we go out of town. Someone is home usually otherwise

                  Fort Knox pistolbox bolted into the floor with 2 Glock 30s in it for the wife and I, both with TLR-1 HLs and night sights. Theres also ear and eye pro if theres time, but we both train to get the gun first before we move to those.

                  ** I say if theres time as in if you hear somebody banging on the front door. If somebodies already in the house, we just get the guns ASAP then get to the kids, then if we still have time and were already safe, we call the cops. We keep child sized ear pro in the kids room even though we both know it will probably not be used in an emergency.

                    I keep my carry gun in my night stand with me and it goes with me when I leave the house or I lock it in my 48 gun safe. I should get a small safe

                        I let this thread slide sorry about that. I have that gunvault that was on sale at turners for $100.

                        I like it but I think I'm gonna mount it in the pantry since my kitchen is in the middle of my house...and I'm gonna get 2 hornady rapid safes for the bedsides.

                        Its funny, we have to deal with putting our guns in pistol safes by our beds, but if someone gets in our house, how easy would those safes be to take away? I guess there is levels to home security and these pistols we keep bedside have to be expendable. Whatever we keep in the big safe has to be the most valuable.

                          My safe is right next to the side of the bed I sleep on and it stays unlocked at night. I could roll off of the bed and be right at the base of it. I keep a handgun on top of it at night which allows me relatively fast access while keeping it out of the reach of my two kids who are 5 years old and 14 months old. My oldest knows not to touch the guns regardless.

                          I'd stay away from gimmicky bracelets and handgun safes, but ymmv. Just install a high shelf if you need to keep it away from small children and start drilling gun safety into them when you can.

                            ^^^^Worst advice ever.
                            Hiding guns or putting them up high does not stop children from finding or reaching them, ever. If a child accesses your gun, you are criminally liable. This means prison for those of you on the slower side.
                            Your kids might be perfect. How about the kids they bring over?
                            Put a little effort and a few $ into securing your guns.

                              I like the bracelet idea for my girl, since she wouldnt be very good under pressure. Anyone know how those bracelets operate?

                                I'm lucky to live in a household without children or crazy people and a trusted someone is at least always home when I'm at work. No constant visitors or crazy parties, so my home is in good hands with at least someone there 24/7. In my case I have a shotgun in the closet and my nightstand gun is also my carry gun. Spent the last 3 years always within arms-reach of that pistol, so no, I don't use a safe.

                                If I did want to use a safe (which I think many households should), I think it'd be a biometric "pop open" safe.
