But seriously how do you lock a padlock backwards? On this particular model of padlock does the shackle detach completely from the lock body?

You can do this and see if it works? I have had to make a shim because someone locked our storage in our backyard and couldn't remember the combo.

did you try just pulling on the lock body it should just slide off there made to slide in that direction so give it a try

Locksmith? Seriously? Just cut it off and make Brainiac buy you a new lock.

Bolt cutters seem to be your best option. I would say take it to a local gym (since many of them carry cutters) but walking in with a firearm probably isn't the best idea.

Hey wait a minute!

GLOCK factory cases are a dime a dozen, everybody's got two or three in the back of their closet, the lock's probably worth more.
Cut the handle of the plastic case and save the lock!

It's not simple at all. You can just flip it over. I figured bolt cutter but was trying to see if there is a way without buying a jolt cutter or destroying the lock. Thanks for the answers though.
