Help!! put lock on backwards.

So I took my brother to the range today. He packed my G21 and put on the lock backwards. So I can't get the key in since it blocked by the case's handle. I imagine I have to cut it but wanted to know if anyone had had a similar experience and had any other ideas. Will a lock Smith cut it?

High speed cut off wheel will make short work of that.

...but you do need to put on some shoes first.

You could even grind it off, just make sure you keep it cool so you don't melt the case.

That sucks. It’s a cheap fix- bolt cutters and a new lock. Post your location, i’ll lend you mine.

Cut it off is all I can tell you. I've gone to the range with friends who have had to ask the range to cut off there locks cuz they forgot their key. I've seen it happen a few times and cutting it off is the end result. It'll only cost you a few bucks for a new lock.

Try prying on it ....might be stiff but shouldnt lock upside down

Heat up the case with a heat gun, compress the case with pressure pliers, try to stick the key from the top, when done heat the case back to shape, no damage to either one, otherwise cut the case or the lock.

Was this really worth making a post over? I mean either cut the lock or the case pretty simple. Or just man handle the lock until you can get the key in there.

But seriously how do you lock a padlock backwards? On this particular model of padlock does the shackle detach completely from the lock body?

It's not backwards, the lock body was installed upside down. The lock body does come all the way off the shackle. See the word "Master" being upside down.

I remember years ago at the Pt Mugu air show. How long ago? Well the Blue Angels were flying F4 Phantoms!

Anyway, on one stunt 2 of the Angels flew by, one normal and one inverted - Canopy to canopy. And I recall some lady behind us shouting "Look, he's flying backwards!"

Here is the way:

1) Slap your brother upside the head!
2) Give brother a hacksaw to cut it off with...
3) After he spends an hour trying with the hacksaw, give him the instructions for the shim.
4) After another hour, give him the bolt cutters.

Lesson learned.

A Hammer will make short work of it. Anyone remember when 300win mag came out and the t.v. Ad was Master lock you met your match. Maybe it wasnt 300win mag but pretty sure it was...... Shoot it off.
