Gun Sales After Sandy Hook

Just two weeks before Sandy Hook I was in Vegas on a business trip and found my way to a range where I could shoot full auto. I had always practiced a few times a year to stay proficient in pistol but after that I started reading up on what other guns I might add to the safe. I happened to start looking right at the beginning and all the shops I looked in were sold out within 4-5 days. I did not jump on the hype and focused on revolvers for a while.

Had the AW ban made it into law, it would not be called hype........it could very well have happended

I saw bricks for $200. I bought gun same day but it was a good deal and I had just happened to have heard of the shooting a little while before. Got a German P220 with night sights and the box and 4 mags $500. I was going on a motorcycle ride and just happened to find the deal in a local shop on way home. Probably made sense for me to buy but really Sandy Hook did not affect me much due to what and how I buy guns and ammo.

I did place a quick order for a LPK so I could finish off a build and not get gouged doing so.

I came home from work and my wife and I talked about the news.

Then told her, 'im going to the gun store' She didn't even protest, she just handed me the car keys.

I bought a stripped lower for a 100 bucks I think. When I went back 10 days later the panic was in full effect.

Ive been through this before.

Some may say Im sick for buying a gun in response to a shooting, but I say that the politicians that use a stack of bodies to further their agenda are the sick ones.

Either way, the market moves on with you or without you.

I remember walking into Turners and seeing an empty wall.

Yeah, I was waiting in line at Turners (pulled a number) to pick up a PPT at

The place was full that Saturday, very quiet in the store, everybody patient.

In walks a guy who made his way thru the crowd, stopped and stared at the Empty Gun Racks and said in a very loud voice "what happened to all the guns?"

The entire store burst out Laughing.....

This was true here on the SF Peninsula as well. I remember walking into Gun Vault the weekend after and the shelves were empty.

I bought during the hype. Mostly because I had my eye on that AR before SH. I paid $250 more than I should have, but it shoots better!

I don't do panics. My main memory of how it affected me was laughing at the panic buyers and the insane lines to get in gun shows. I'm at shows regardless and not to buy beef jerky or wait in Miwall line to get raped. I waited in rain in a line of like 5-10k to get in the Costa Mesa show. I was there mainly for stuff like C&R rifles.

That Utah gun show cartel must literally drool in delight when there is a mass shooting and a panic. Shows have been kind of dead lately. No wait whatsoever to get ammo at Del Mar last weekend.
