You apparently never served in the military either since the M2 isn't just a vehicle mounted system. Grunts hump those and the ammo to feed them into some pretty rugged terrain. The same CAN'T be said for the mini-gun, the batteries needed to power it and enough ammo to feed it.

In the strange juxtaposition of low and high tech in the world of infantry combat, the M2 is a much better fit, despite it's supposed "obsolescence".

Very important point here Steve. Unless you dedicate a whole platoon to carry ammo for the Minigun it will run out of ammo in no time quick. Plus unlike what people saw in "Predator" a minigun (even a 7.62 or 5.56 version) isnt a man portable weapon system due to the batteries and the massive amounts of ammo required to feed even one gun.. But on the other hand I can take a Weapons Plt and have them hump 4-5 M-2's with tripods and enough ammo to cause some severe hate and discontent up to the top of a hill and they will own a 3-4 kilometer radius as long as the ammo holds out. It may be heavy, but it is still man portable, unlike a Gau-19.

I like my 1911 and my p99 compact. Both are fun for me to shoot. My at-15 and m1a are the same way

I would just as likely bug out with my trusty SKS and a bandolier full of stripper clips as I would anything else. I think it is a shill argument. All technological advances aside, the fundamental key is the rifleman, not the rifle.

Bushing wrenches only make dis-assembly easier. I can strip all of my 1911's without one.

Same here. I've never needed tools to field strip a 1911.
