If you do business with those that have a 20+ iTrader rating you should be fine.

I have always met my seller inside the shop. After the weapon has been cleared by the person performing the PPT, I inspect, I Pay and we do the paperwork.

If everyone did this, how would anyone get a 20+ iTrader rating? You have to start somewhere.

Inspect gun inside store then pay after it's clear that we both have all the paperwork required. This goes for me buying or selling, I'm don't want to meet anyone in the parking lot or down the street to inspect a gun.

Why would the exchange of money take place outside the LGS? Do some LGS require that? Is the LGS taking on any additional liability if the money is transferred inside their store?

Personally, if I say "done deal" and shake hands, then the deal is done and if I am selling something, I expect to leave without the product and with the money - or the reverse if I'm the buyer. All the inspections, negotiations, and requirements better be satisfied before we shake hands on the deal.

It pays to confirm with the shop your doing the PPT with what their shop rules are.
I have been to shops that do not want money to change hands in the shop. Shops that want to inspect all firearms coming in prior to any inspection of the gun by the buyer. Shops that want all inspections to be done out of the shop.

I have been to shops that only due PPT's by appointment, or only on certain days. I have also been to shops that state there is a storage fee if you don't pickup the gun on the first available pickup day.

I have let people pay me after signing but not going to anymore. I've never got burned and I don't want to let it happen. So, money first, then ppt.

I'm pretty sure all of those are illegal.

I just wait until the guy wants to pay, either before or after the transfer, it doesn't matter, if the guy doesn't end up paying then the guns are now considered stolen and the cops are called not to mention the guy is going to be hurting from me beating his *** for pulling this crap - but in reality I have done literally 100's of transfers and never had a problem - Most gun people I have dealt with are pretty honest. thank God-

As the seller always get the money first. You don't want to start or worse yet complete the paperwork and then the buyer forgot his wallet or doesn't have all the money and tries to negotiate a cheaper price. All of the Calgunners I've met are very nice though and wouldn't pull any of that crap though.

I'm glad someone started this thread, I'm getting ready to PPT 2 guns that I'm selling, one guy I know the other guy is a newbie to me, we have spoken over the phone and he sounds like a straight shooter so I feel ok about the whole thing, I'm gonna look up his iTrader rating to see what he's done or said in the past.

                              Thanks OP

Is it theft if you give it to him? I wouldn't say that an "I'll take it" is an absolute contract if it doesn't include a price in it, either.

If you were to beat him up for not paying I'd expect you to get in more trouble than him.
