RIP the 2976 American people that lost there lives on 9/11 and RIP the 48,644 afghan and 1,690,903 Iraqi and 35,000 Pakistani people that paid the ultimate price for a crime they did not commit.

If they post such drivel, they are likely not interested in things like facts or a mature discussion on the topic.

As an active duty service-member, I do take offense at the above notion that we have no choice to go to war. This is a volunteer service, and no one was forced to go to war against their will. Please don't make your political points while demeaning the choice that these men and women made.

You are correct. You do have the choice to join or not to join the armed services. However once in, you can't simply pick whether or not you get deployed.

You could argue you always have a choice but then we are talking about the choice between going on deployment or getting court martialed. You will likely get an an other than honorable discharge or worse though.

I've learned FB should be limited to sharing things such as family photos and family updates to stay in connected with family and close friends that otherwise you'd lose touch with due to them being geographically inconvenient to visit.

Posting political rants on FB typically serves no purpose, as you are usually preaching to the choir. If there is someone who is just a thorn in the side, it's best to simply remove them from your friends list. You're not going to change their opinion and you probably already don't have enough time to spend with your close family and friends as is. So why waste time bickering with them? Put that extra time into building the relationships that matter to you.

There are two things I believe in that are considered straight up blasphemy by the people in this country who want to make sure we have no future and one of them is related to the statement your acquaintance made.

1. I value my property more than a person's life if they're intent on stealing or destroying it.

2. 100 million people from the Middle East, innocent or otherwise isn't worth a single American life.
