I sent the gun in to Ruger asking if there was anything they could do to fix it, and telling them that if they could fix it to go ahead and do so and send me a bill. When I got an automated phone call from FedEx just a couple of days later, indicating that it had been sent back, I thought for sure that Ruger couldn't (or wouldn't) repair ye olde LCP and was sending back my broken gun to be sent off to the gun graveyard. Imagine my surprise when the gun arrived the next day and I opened the box and saw that Ruger had replaced the slide, barrel and all the other parts, all for free. It looks and feels like a brand new gun. And they didn't charge me a single cent. I got so much for nothing, I actually almost feel guilty about it.

Ruger kicks 4$$ and can have my business anytime. Just ordered 100 rounds of Hydra-Shok (my chosen carry round) from Midway and will go to the range and see how this baby functions in a few days. But given Ruger's stellar reputation, I seriously doubt there'll be any problems.

There's one downside to this situation though: now I don't have an excuse to buy that Kahr CW380 I had my eye on...
Edit: Now that I've saved so much money on such an expensive repair, I can afford to buy a CW380!

I love every one of my Rugers, from both of my Mini-14s to the haLf dozen 10/22s. My LC9 is my most common carry gun and my LCP is great for hot weather concealed carry. The Mark series of 22s is one of the best semi auto 22 pistols on the market, and the SR22 pistol is just plain fun.

Exactly! So many companies just don't understand the value of great customer service and it's positive impact on future income. That repair might have costs them $50 including labor and it earned them a life time customer (probably).

Update: Finally got down to the range this morning to test her out and she ran like a champ. I put a hundred rounds of hydra-shok down range without a single hiccup. As far as accuracy is concerned, this gun isn't a tack driver, but it's combat accurate and can easily hold minute of bad guy at 20 ft, which is good enough for me.

Like I said, I'm sold. Ruger can have my business any time.

A 10/22's a descent semi auto, too. I've had good results with Ruger firearms.

Now that some great service from Ruger. I'll remember that on my next purchase.

"I'd buy a Ruger if they had a semi worth owning."

even if you don't like their proprietary / in-house firearm designs,
you do you know they make a 1911, isn't that a semi automatic worth owning or do you dislike those as well.

personally I've always had great luck with the Rugers that I've owned in the past.

a Ruger 10/22 (of course..didn't everyone own one of those. I thought it came with your man card when you were a still a boy.)

and a Ruger Super Blackhawk stainless steel in .44 Magnum with barrel as long as a ruler and it wasn't just built like a tank...
                    it was a tank.

when I think of handguns I think Smith and Wesson for slim, stealthy and beautiful old world craftsmanship.

and when I think Ruger I think their items are built thick, strong and a "hot" hand loaders best choice.

My only Ruger is a 10-22, and I love that thing. My next will probably be an LCP with CT laser. Ill have to get before Jan. 1st.

LOMFL! My LCP is a Ruger semi and it saved my life one day a few years ago when I was jumped in broad daylight by some out-of-control, feral "youths" who were intent upon beating me to death in the street. I don't think any reasonable person would argue that it's not worth me owning it.

My LCP is a great pocket gun, but don't expect any warranty service from Ruger if you need it on an off roster gun.

My LCP is now an AZ only gun because Ruger refused to warranty an off roster pistol if it was shipped to / from CA.

They are shipping my gun back to my AZ FFL because it needed a new frame. Now I can't carry it in CA anymore. I will not buy any more Ruger products...
