(sigh) I wish I had enough guns that they needed to be "inventoried".

Open safe. Yep, all there. Close safe.

Why do you guys not let your wives have the combo? Is she stupid? Irresponsible? Criminally inclined? Bat***** crazy?

If you can't trust her with the combo of your safe then do you trust her with your kids? How can you trust her enough to sleep next to her every night?

And the best question of them all: If you trust her so little, why the F*CK did you marry her in the first place???

Mine are all on my inventory record and verified only periodically when I update a family portrait.

It was the same for me for a long time. Recently my brother bought a safe and I suggested we give each other our combinations. Figuring that if something happens to one of us somebody should be able to access the safe.

I've been thinking about doing a full inventory complete with pics and serial numbers. It's definitely long overdue. Looks like I've got a new weekend project.

As far as the little woman having access to the gun safe, I see no reason for it since she doesn't keep anything in it.

Daily inventory in my head. I know exactly where they at the end of the day.
i have all my guns in my safe, constantly opening it, so if something was missing i would know right away

i take pictures of all my firearms, write down the serial number, then, I email it to myself and keep it in a special saved emails folder...even if im not at home, or my computer hard drive takes a crap on me, i can access my information about my firearms with any computer, just by logging into my email account

i update it everytime i make a new purchase

+1 for me wondering why all you guys who don't give the "little lady" the combo. How is she supposed to shoot the rapey home invader? My wife doesn't remember the main safe combo despite my best effort but has and knows the combo to the bedside safe.

As far as inventory probably monthly be each time I buy or sell I update my insurance spreadsheet and send it to my agent.

I inventory all my weapons every couple of days. As a kid I had access to all of my fathers weapons. My sister and I were pretty good kids and my parents had no reason not to trust us. I was introduced to guns at a young age and understood the consequences of pulling the trigger. I never touched my fathers guns unless I spoke to him first. When I got old enough I would pull the guns out every couple of months and field strip, clean, lube and reassemble. In my opinion your family, so long as you choose the correct spouse and raise your kids right, should have access to the guns and be prepared to engage any intruder who makes the decision to enter your home without permission and with the intent to harm. Granted every child is different and the decision to allow access should be determined based off of the child's personality and a track record of good, responsible behavior.

I have less than 15 total so it is not a problem . but i do rotate shooting and cleaning a lot. I sell what i no longer enjoy shooting. Never did like objects just sitting around weather it is a gun or a car.
