How often do you inventory your guns?

I don't bother with inventory because I lost them all in a tragic boating accident.

I shoot about once a month, so i would say with rotation i see all my guns every six months.

Mine is stored in the cloud, but then again I live in CA, so not too worried about the NSA since they are already in the know.

I have 2 guns out of the safes..one near me and one near where I sleep.. I get in the safes when I go shooting (not to often lately) and once a year when I pull em all out and lube everything...we're empty nesters,so no kids around. BTW, the wife does not have acess to the safes.

Safe & Spreadsheet with SN's, purchase dates, rounds fired, manufacture dates, etc. Keeps tracking mileage and maintenance easy for me. I do the same with ammo and certain accessories. Photos are a good idea for insurance purposes.

I wouldn't say you are paranoid but I would say that people who think they're the only ones who can get in their safe are probably overly comfortable. ESPECIALLY if there are curious kids around.

I don't have that many so I'd know immediately if somebody got one (or heck, even moved one). I mean immediately upon opening the safe, so it's probably a good idea to do that from time to time.

I only keep a couple guns out of the safe, few enough to be able to easily keep tabs on them. Only me and the Mrs. have the safe combo.

Of course I keep most of my guns in the large safe, and only I know the combo, but for example, what if I kept one in the garage, or the office, or in the car, in one of those "gunvault" contraptions with the 4 digit codes. I am assuming those would be pretty easy to break into, and may not leave any sign of being forced open. That is why I am thinking that it might be prudent to have visual confirmation every few days that those guns are still where they should be.

Truth is I check Guns / Ammo / Knifes and Bug Out Gear every 3 days.

Been married going on 5 years now and my wife still doesn't know the combo. Only I have the combo and only 1 home defense shotgun is left out. The shells are locked in a nightstand next to the bed that gets unlocked when I go home and dump the keys out. My dogs are my early warning system to know when to load up.

Im not trying to thread jack or start a debate here, but why wouldn't your wife have the combo to the safe? What if she cant get to the primary weapon in time and needs a back up? If she carries all the time, what if the weapon fails or some other scenario?

Only my kids don't have the combo. No need to inventory.
