How many factory 30 rounders are you gonna get for it???I pledge allegiance to the Eagle with the MP5 of the United Police States of America, and to the fallen Republic which once stood, the New World Order under our new overlords, divided, with tyranny and injustice for all.

I would be happy for you but- it's a mini!Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

My brother did that a couple years back with an FN/FAL... of course this was in New Mexico. I was there. And, a few hours later, we were shooting it in the National Forest. So rewarding, made me proud to be an American that day. Sadly, 'tis a "loophole" me thinks will be closed soon.
Here are a couple pictures of it from that day of the "cash & carry" rifle:

At 6'5", my friend makes the gun look somewhat smaller than it is, lol:

No, but we perhaps unknowingly brushed shoulders at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, circa 1993-95. At the time, I lived in Romona and went there many times.
Well, I have had a "thing" for the Mini since at least 1999. They are great, solid guns for the price. My brother has the Mini-30 too. That rifle is a blast to shoot. I ain't no AR fanboy (yet), but when I drop major coin here, it will most likely be on something like the FN/FAL paratrooper. I'd also like to get an M1 Carbine paratrooper.

Well, I wanted to get stainless ones, but they can be hard to come by.
To each his own, I say. Actually, the rifle that made me the most happy in my entire life was a 1950 Browning .22 that ejected the brass from the bottom of the gun and could fit in a shoebox. It has very rare rear sights and was *perfectly* balanced in the hand when you held it.
Stupidly, and sadly, I sold it for $450 bucks. Must be worth near $1,000 now."If men were angels, no government would be necessary." - James Madison, Federalist No. 51 (1787)Comment

There is a pawn shop in San Diego asking $2k for a mini folder (see gunbroker). Not that this is a reasonable asking price, but it might make you feel even better about your acquisition. Congrats -- I am also in the market for a mini 14 ranch as my first long gun.Comment

Congrats. I have one I bought back in the mid/late 90's and wanted
it to shoot a tighter group, so of course I spent a small fortune
on it and last time I shot it around it hit pretty fair. Now it sits
here at the house getting old like me, but in MUCH better shape..
Also have a Butler Creek black folder stock for it. Bought it RIGHT
before the Ca's asinine SB 23 went into effect, so of course IT was
bloody expensive. Got it from Wilson's Gun World in Berdoo right
before Jerry Wilson passed away. He got me good on it, but oh
well. Hope you enjoy yours.

Early model pencil barrel Mini-14s need a aftermarket support for the barrel. As the barrel heats, you start stringing shots.
Newer models have a much thicker barrel that solved that problem.
Early model Mini-30s were made with barrels for U.S. spec bullets .308, Not the most accurate when using ComBlock surplus or other ComBlock spec'd ammo.
Later models came with a ComBlock spec barrel for the .311, 7.62x39 bullet.Comment

This is true. I had a Shilen "semi-heavy" barrel installed onEarly model pencil barrel Mini-14s need a aftermarket support for the barrel. As the barrel heats, you start stringing shots.

mine and it helped. There was a big discussion on the early
thin barrels and how to come up with rigging to stabilize it
after it got hot over at a ruger mini forum years ago.Comment

Hey fellas -
Turns out the Mini is actually a Ranch Rifle and was manufactured in 1994... so it is a "pencil barrel" after all.
That's OK, because it is just going to be a spray & pray mag dump range fun gun. No accuracy required!
Thanks bg. Hey, SB 23, that was the one that took effect on Jan. 1st, 2000?Congrats. I have one I bought back in the mid/late 90's and wanted
