How much ammo do you take to the range
Tags: None -
I take 100 - 200 rds to an indoor range and 500 to an outdoor range / BLM land. -
I always take more than what I need. Last trip to the range this past Sunday to break in my AR15 i brought 500 rounds. To break in my 92FS 200 rounds. I ended up shooting 150 rounds of 223 to sight in both sights and break in the barrel. and 150 rounds of 9mm.
If It wasn't to break in a barrel or new gun I'd still bring about 200 rounds of each.

We (wife and I) usually take about 400 rounds and usually shoot 200+. But we go at least once a week. A typical range trip involves each of us running thru a preset 100 round routine with our carry weapons. When we have more time we will shoot the rest of the ammo in other weapons for fun.Only slaves don't need guns

I can't really specify an exact number, it just depends on how much time I got, how many guns I'm bringing out, and how many people I take with me. The numbers may change but I insist on some rules:
-Always take more ammo than you think you'll need
-Always leave a decent amount of ammo un-fired for all the guns you brought: I don't like rolling around with paperweights.
-Always keep some common calibers on hand, even for guns you don't even own, so that you can shoot friend's guns or in the event you find a gracious shooter at the range who you can swap range time withVMI '11

Im asking because i always seem to take way to much
Then when im there it becomes a mission to shoot it all
For example, i am going tonight
and when leaving my house i realized i have about 700 rounds of 40, 50 rounds of 44 (out of bullets for reloading) and about 600 rounds of 45.Comment

I usally take 200-250 rounds of 9mm and 50 rounds of either 357 or 38 special. If I'm shooting rifles to I bring 250 rounds of 556 and then 100-150 rounds of 9mm.Comment

Really depends what I'm shooting, this morning I took three handguns to my out door range(rarely shoot indoors) a M&P .45, FNP.45 and P220E SAO. Took 420 rounds with me, but only shot 270. Ran some drills from 3 to 15 and some 25 yards, don't shoot the FNP and SIG that often, most likely would have shot most if not all if I would have took 1911s.Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.Comment

i take about 1000 rounds to the range and shoot 200-500 depending on if i bring company or just myself. 9mm
i always like to remind myself about the fatigue to performance aspect so i try and keep my round count to a minimal with a lot of breaks in betweenComment

Spot on. I also factor in economics. For example, I'll budget to shoot more 9mm than I will .357, or .223 more than .308.I can't really specify an exact number, it just depends on how much time I got, how many guns I'm bringing out, and how many people I take with me. Always depends on the number of firearms taken, and which calibers. I usually go alone, but when wife goes, I double the ammo amount for weapons we are going to share.
I usually take four different calibers any given time, 2 pistol and 2 rifle, sometimes the shotty.
Usually:
.22 - 150~250
.38 - 50~100
.357 - 50~100
.45acp - 100~150
5.56 - 150~250
x39 - 150~250
x51 - 100~150
x54 - 100~150
8mm - 70 (1 bandolier)
As a side note, occasionally I bring some back.
The above estimates are for typical range days, if we're talking about a weekend desert BLM shooting trip all that goes out the window and I pack like I'm landing on Omaha Beach and it's D-Day!

I guess i'm surprisingly low.
For the 9mm handgun I usually bring 100 rounds. Usually lasts about 3 or 4 firing periods. Stay maybe an hour or two at most.
At the rifle range, I'll usually shoot between 50-100 rounds max. When i'm there with friends (which I usually am) I usually only shoot 10 or so rounds per firing period. Probably there for roughly 4 hours at a time.
Always shoot 5 round groups (load 5 per mag).
