Just curious as to how much info is given? Like does the info state what type of firearms you have by listing them? As well as serial numbers?

How would you feel if the officer asked "have you been been watching child porn tonight?". Those questions are designed to intimidate and they imply you are guilty of a crime.

Got pulled over by a State Park Ranger once. He asked me if I owned guns. I said I did. He asked if I had any with me, told him no. I asked him how he liked his issued s&w. We talked guns. He told me my buddies tags on the truck I was driving were expired and gave us a warning.

The thing I want to do whoever contacted by LEOs is the attitude test. It can really dictate how they handle the situation. This doesn't mean I roll over and forfeit my rights. I just politely assert them.

I agree. Attitude should present itself first; then you can answer the questions if need be. A lot of things can develop (or disappear) depending on one's attitude.

Say what you like about the circumstances of the stop and authority of the officer to inquire - Disconcerting nonetheless. All it takes is one or two more steps and we have politicization of law enforcement power.

i've always been the first one to admit that i would have no issues whatsoever in declaring that im a gun owner, nor do i have a problem admitting it to any LEO who might ask...not being illegal, why should i?

that said, if i was stopped and asked, i would proudly acknowledge that i own firearms, one of the entitlements of being a law abiding citizen

the way the encounter develops after that, depending on the officers demeanor will dictate how i proceed too...when i sense a different agenda besides the stop itself, i'll take the appropriate steps to exercise my rights, and, keep the contact within the boundaries of the stop

anything more would also fall withing the scope of being intrusive IMHO

I would laugh. I would then say, "No, but I don't understand the foundation for that question. How would that be related to operating a vehicle?"

Note: Alcohol and firearms both trigger legal restrictions related to operating a vehicle. Questions regarding alcohol and firearms at least fall within the purview of the officer's duty in pulling me over for a traffic violation. If I have nothing to hide, I don't mind answering questions like that.
