Home Invasion.....

I see a ton of threads talking about which gun to use in case of a home invasion, but I would like to know if this is even a major concern. Of course it's nice and all to have the peace of mind, but what are the chances? I mean how many of us here have had to USE a gun on somebody who broke into their house? Or better yet, will you be able to shoot and kill someone who happens to come inside or will you point the gun at them and tell them to get on the ground until the police arrive? Do you have the "killer instinct"...do you really?? Are you ready to deal with taking someones life if they were just a kid screwing around for fun?

I'm really wondering what the frequency of this situation is. I highly doubt many of us here have or ever will face this situation.

I'd love to hear from people who have faced this situation....anybody??

I've met a father and son who came home to armed robbers. The 10 year old was bound and beaten a little while the father was bound and beaten pretty bad. This was in one of the safest neighborhood in the country. So, what are the chances? Who knows. What are the chances of winning the lottery? Yea, not good but, plenty of people still buy tickets. I'm guessing the chances of being a victim of a home invasion are a lot better than winning the lottery.

If you think I'm a troll, good for you... But I dont play the internet troll game. I'm a member of many different forums and have never ever been labeled a troll. If that's how you'd like to label soneone for asking a sensitive question or two, go for it. But I won't be lured into that childish bull****. Does it make you feel like a big internet hero calling people names ??

It just seems like you're trolling because you are
1. a junior member, most trolls haven't posted that much on the forum
2. Saying something that most anti-gun people say. (why do you neeeeed a gun for home defense)


As far as the original question, No I don't think there is a high chance of someone breaking into my house while I am inside it. Yes, I would like to have a gun for the peace of mind that it offers, I know I can protect myself if someone were to break in.

Yes I think I can use lethal force to protect myself if the need arises, although that is a last resort and I would try everything else before that. Every situation is different, it may not be appropriate to pull the trigger in every home invasion scenario, but I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

For the record I never asked for "story's" but some people seem to have no problem giving them. I guess I shouldn't have asked if faced with "THE" decision, would you be able to shoot. My bad. I didn't realize how sensitive some of you folks are here....I'll be much more careful with my words in the future so nobody gets all up in arms and starts using the "T" word again.

Btw... anybody who uses someone's post count to pass judgement on a persons knowledge on a forum is plain ridiculous. I have lurked on forums for months and months before joining in the past...and did so here as well. It's the same thing everywhere you go though...certain members like to call others trolls or whatever other insult they can think up, always with the intention of trying to make themselves look smart. It's silly really, but some need that reassurance for whatever reason.

As far as I'm concerned, this thread is done and I won't be participating in it anymore, so feel free to continue with the name calling and getting your panties all in a bunch. Thanks to those of you who were mature enough to understand the topic and give good info. The rest of you need to chill out.

You're right, your post count shouldn't matter, but it does. Especially when asking the kind of questions you did with what has some very strong anti-gun undertones (whether you intended them or not). As a result, we have absolutely no way to check your history to determine what your true intentions here are because, y'know, it's not like our fundamental rights are under constant attack in this state/country and nobody's ever created a Calguns account to stir things up or collect data to use against us.

You don't just get to walk up to a group of kids during lunch on the first day of school and start interrogating them. That's how you end up being shoved into a trashcan.
