AZ and NV are the least restrictive of the 4. A big plus for me is that warm weather is easy to find where I'll work. Utah is a bit more restrictive and there is a definite difference in society that some might not be comfortable with -- I'm comfortable there and would have no trouble (Utah is the only state of the four I've not lived in full time for a long period) It would be okay but you'll notice some goofy restrictions not in place in AZ or NV

Oregon is last on my list because it's the most restrictive and it has the worst attitude about individual Rights. Land use laws are strange (it is also a bit annoying to always have to wait for them to get around to pumping gas for you too) There's a distinct silly-lefty-lib twist to attitudes there that can be almost as annoying as being in California.

I'd pick Idaho because it has high ratings for individual rights, property rights, and firearms rights.

Of your list I would choose AZ.

I have family in Utah, and Arizona and my daughter is in Las Vegas and I have spent a lot of time in Idaho cause my father is from there.

I am considering retiring in the Reno, NV area, or Cache Valley (Logan) UT area. I really like Boise, ID but the winters are a bit too cold for my wife. Arizona summers are just too hot for me.
Logan isnt much warmer in the winter than Boise but my sister and her family are there.

If Boise is too cold for your wife you really don't want to move to Logan. Trust me, that's where we lived when we were in Utah. It's right at the bottom of the V where the Wellsville and Bear River mountain ranges converge. Cold air gets trapped there and it can get real cold, real fast. Temps well below zero were very common when we were there, in fact the entire month of January our last winter there was below zero with temps hitting -30 at night and -5 during the day.

If you have family in Logan then by all means go there. Just don't be surprised when it goes into deep-freeze mode.

(BTW, I loved it there and would live there again in a heartbeat! That last winter and the snow it brought were a bit much for my wife - she's a native of Lancaster and the Mojave Desert, poor thing!)

Not to mention they hire like 1 in 1000 applicants. Seriously, go to http://forums.officer.com/ and scroll down to the state discussion boards. Getting hired in AZ or UT is next to impossible unless you have connections in the departments. Texas on the other hand is growing so fast, you might have a chance of actually getting hired.

Best advice: find something (else) that you think you could actually do. Criminal justice degrees are about as common as Art history and about as useful lol. Even if you do wanna be cop, a business degree is more useful than criminal justice.

Louisianna is home to Jerry Michilek and Clark Custom Guns. When I've seen Jerry put on exhibitions he spoke highly of Louisianna gun laws !

I do not have any info on exact laws, but other than democrat states of NY, NJ, RI, CN, Ill. Etc you will improve your gun rights by going anywhere else .


Add Wisconsin to the list of states deserving a " Brady " F ! Since the GOP wrote, passed and Gov Walker signed CCW !
