    Gun Friendly States

    Hey Calgunners,
I am contemplating on moving out of California once I graduate from college and since I do not have any children or a house it makes it much easier for me to move out. I told my GF about the idea and to my surprise she was excited by the idea. She is graduating this year and will be going into law school, once I graduate. I have four states in mind and they are Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, or Utah. I chose these states because I want to be some what close to family as possible. Any constructive suggestions, ideas, or info about these states would be greatly appreciated. Also, I have a couple of Rifles and was wondering if I needed to do anything once I move out to not get in trouble with the law? Maybe like registration or something.

Why does everyone think Texas is gun friendly? They are a few steps away from being California. Utah is the most friendly gun state. You can open carry into a preschool and it's illegal for them to ask you to stop. By gun friendly I am basing this off of who can open or conceal carry.

U.S. States that have implemented Constitutional Carry
              1.1 Alaska
              1.2 Arizona
              1.3 Arkansas
              1.4 Vermont
              1.5 Wyoming (for residents)
1.6 Oklahoma (residents of constitutional carry states)

              Utah
Utah issues concealed carry weapons permits on a shall-issue basis and open carry is legal without a permit provided that the firearm is kept in a state where two actions must take place before the weapon will fire. There is no such restriction for concealed carry weapons permit holders.[39] On 21 January 2013, Rep. John Mathis, R-Vernal, reintroduced legislation to allow Constitutional Carry.[40] Although the bill was passed by the legislature, it was vetoed by Governor Herbert.[41]

Honestly, compared to what we are used to any of our bordering states will feel like complete freedom.

Not on your list but I would vote (of course) for Texas also aka God's Country.

Seriously - education & training as it relates to the job market, a bunch of other stuff of course need to be considered (as you know) before such a move.

I've moved 1/2 way then entirely across country - from the east coast to the left coast - do it while you are unencumbered as you mentioned!!!

                  Have fun!

What is the field of work you want to get into ?

Arizona is always looking for Skilled labor(IT Programming, Accountant's, Welder's, Plumbing, Electrical). , pay is decent in those job areas.

Cost of living is almost half of anywhere in California. Even the Central Valley in California is starting to get real expensive.

Mesa is a good area in Arizona for cost of living, I loved it there, and plan on moving back in January.

Utah or Arizona. I frequently visit NV, AZ, MT, and ID, and you will have no issues whatsoever as far as bringing your rifles from CA, provided of course you are not prohibited.

Bury those 10rd magazines in case you ever have to move back, and buy yourself some real configurations/magazines as soon as your legal residence has changed to your new home in accordance with the law

                      Can you taste the freedom?

Read this article from Guns and Ammo:
States can score a maximum 10 points per category, with a perfect score of 50. Full disclosure, though: No state attained that perfect score, though two states came awfully close. As was expected, Washington, D.C., kicked off our list with a whopping zero points

I am very familiar with all four of your picks and have lived in 3 of them. My preference, in order from best to worst:
                            Arizona
                            Nevada
                            Utah
                            Oregon

People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.
