Used Gun Prices?

I bought an XD9 at OC Indoor Range in Brea for $550.00 during the 'Panic'. Since you are in North OC, you might check them out before making your next purchase. If they have the gun in stock, the pricing is usually pretty fair. The bad news is that their selection is not huge.

I chanrge more for my used guns because I will only buy something that is super awesome and come with the shooting4life awesome seal of approval. This of course was determined by firing said gun (or breaking in if you will) between 50-200 rounds over a 6 month to two year period. Of course the gun has not been cleaned to prove that the proper "breaking in" has been done. The 2nd magazine that normally comes with the gun has been "lost" but the add is only described as coming with one mag.

Box and paperwork too. Oh, and never mind that big scratch on the butt of the grip. LOL.

Nice guys up there. Family has shot there too. They have a pretty nice selection of self defense pistols, prices are middle/average.
I do like the XD9, I get the closest grouping with that gun.

The gun I mentioned however was the XDs-9 - that's the single-stack version this is not on the roster so would have to be bought SSE.

The interesting stat I saw for dick-stick's AB1964 was that SSE sales totalled about a thousand in 2010, and two years later exceeded 18,000. LOL. Yeah, they're gonna plug that hole for sure. Why are there people like that guy and how do they come to power? I just don't get it. Like re-electing feinie and boxie over and over again. OMFG.

I'm still not completely sold on plastic guns. But lots of raves for them pretty universally for a ccw or defense weapon. Glocks, XD's, M&P's, even Sig has jumped in now.

Thanks for all the comments. I have a better understanding. There's also no 30-day limit on PPT's so perhaps that's worth something to some.

From experience buying and selling here, people price high to give them room for negotiation. They really don't expect to get what they ask in many cases.

I dunno, in many enthusiast forums it's said to be in bad taste to 'negotiate' a for-sale item price. Certainly publicly in their thread. The adage goes, 'if you don't like it just skip it. Don't insult them.' Not knowing better I might just post, "Hey, you can get a new one for $xyz, WFT?"

But seriously, a lot of ads are 'firm' or they think they're running some kind of auction and that people are going to try to outbid each other with PM's. Sheesh. <shrug>

It is sadly true that people being people are greedy and will try to get as much as they can even in this friendly website. If someone is asking for near new price simply buy a new one of course in the store.

Some of the prices are quite hilarious and you see a lot of people who are just trying to flip guns too. I see plenty of non roster handguns for more than what I could buy from a FFL. But my PPQ for $800 when it's barely $700 OTD from a number of dealer. Buy my P07 Duty for $750 when the improved 2014 edition is $620 OTD. It seems most used guns sell for about 10% less than you can buy new so I don't really see the point. But my favorite are people who purposely put a low price and then get some interest and sell it to the highest bidder. Gen 4 g19 $500 but you PM them and now they got some other guy offering $550. Only $600 and it's yours lol.

Guns in general don't drop in value by that much if they are well kept, and most of the firearms in the marketplace are very close to new. I don't have any problem buying used, if the condition is good.
Sometime the accessories included, the availability, and no sale tax worth paying retail for a used firearm.
But if your LGS have the same firearm for less, than buy it from them, the seller will eventually lower the price. The free market will take care itself.

So, it has no warranty, and I'm supposed to pay new, that's crazy.

Having bought & sold MANY (TOO) guns on Classified Forums, I feel it is my Duty to Negotiate pricing.. It is an Art Form that is becoming Lost in our computer driven world, so it is the Older Generations place to teach it...

I've never understood it either. A week before my sig p239 9mm was due to arrive at the LGS one was posted in the sale section for $875 with 400 rounds through it. Needless to say a week later I bought the new one for $915 OTD.

I think it's mostly that no matter what you sell you will get some dude to offer you 10% of your asking price.

Its because its a free market and most guns that are "hot" and or a bit harder to get seem to drive price up. For example: S&W shield non CA version would probably get an "ill take it" if someone posted right now for $600. I've been also looking for a CZ SP-01/P-01/P-06 for some time when people post it its ususly over msrp and it also sells fast. Maybe its just my luck that i cant seem to find one. But i would probably spend more than msrp to get my hands on one because every LGS i go to either doesn't have it in stock or they are all sold out on it.

I've seen the CA version Sheild for $450. It's really not worth any more than that. Or about a hundred less than the XDs. Beetle just did a review on all those guns, all seem pretty good. But not $600 good. At least not to me.

Used guns have several values to me:

1. No 1 in 30 days rule.

2. You can find some rare or off roster guns.

3. The ones I buy are usually cheaper but you have to act fast.

4. Sometimes the extra ammo, accessories, mags and modifications are worth it.

5. A used gun in good condition is a used gun in good condition. Doesn't metter if the gun is from the original owner or the 2nd owner. So if the original owner sold the gun for 10% less than the brand new price to me, I will have no problem selling the gun for 10% less than new which is the same price I paid provided that the condition is still the same.

6. Sometimes I prefer older version of a gun because it doesn't have a added "safety features.
