If the OP wants to go "nice" I WOULDN'T recommend going with a Kimber. I have a Pro CDPII ($1300) and it was factory defective (frame rails are NOT parallel among other issues) and Kimber did nothing about it after two trips though their warranty service besides giving me TONS OF CRAP about how "I didn't know what I was talking about" and "that I wasn't qualified to tell them anything about their pistols". I got exponentially better treatment from companies whose pistols cost MUCH less then that POS Kimber did.

I would instead HIGHLY recommend spending just a bit more and picking up the bottom of the line Les Bear for $1700.

As to the OP's original question though, I see nothing wrong with buying a couple quality guns vice only a single higher end one.

Buy one really nice gun, when I go to the range, everyone has a glock this or 1911 that, then I open my case and have things most people can only droll over on calguns because they spent their money on a bunch of $500 guns.

Man im not sure that this is making it any easier or not haha. I previously had an MC Operator and i loved it. I sold it and bought the loaded and car parts with the remainder. I reload 45 and i really like the caliber so i dont mind the whole 9mm is cheaper. Ive also thought about trading the 19 for a 30 depending on what i decide to do. And i agree with 2 guns is better then one these are not my only two guns but for now its the only way i can get a gun i really want and like. On the flip side i do like having the variety in size and caliber.. I guess i should shoot the glock and make up my mind.
Selling lots of Pistol brass, lots of 38 and 44 mag!

          2 guns!
          One for each hand!!!!

(why should the right hand have all the fun???)

I think two decently reliable guns trumps a single nicer gun IMO

Are the 1/2 guns filling a gap that is currently absent? You don't own a pistol? You need a bug out bag gun or you only have a Smith 500 and need something cheaper to shoot. Then go with 1-2 guns you can fill the gaps with and if you beat em up so what. Now if its just because you want another pistol for shats and giggle then go with a nice gun.

I just picked up my first nice gun a Kimber Team match 2 but i have a glock 23 and XD9 i shoot the crap out of.

I'd keep what you have and spend the money on ammo and training. I haven't met too many guys that can out shoot their guns. The Springfield loaded and Glock 19's are great guns.

I own a few Kimber's and Les Baer's, which are excellent firearms. They are accurate and better than I can shoot. However, the difference between a $2,000 1911 and your Springfield Loaded are minimal. Yes, fine tuned triggers, match grade barrels, nice checkering, better finish, but none of that will make you a better shooter.

You put a few thousand rounds through your Glock 19 or Springfield Loaded and some training. You'll be able to outshoot 80-90% of the owners of the high end 1911's. Your Springfield trigger will also probably smooth out and break in on it's own.

Well said...... I have (2) G19s and the SA Loaded myself, only three handguns I own.

Right now the guns I'm buying are on the cheaper side, IMO. The next couple I want are a stainless springfield loaded and ruger 6" gp100. After that I'll probably save up more higher end guns but I want a good variety of shooters first.

Also, think of the next generation down the line. I was able to set up my kids with a decent arsenal when they became old enough.

You have two good guns, nothing to worry about or change. If you owned crap then yeah maybe. Is a $1500 1911 going to do something that a G19 or Springer Loaded cant ?
I say add a nice 4" Smith revolver to the mix.

                          1 is none, 2 is 1.
If you lose 1, then you are stuck.

Dont put all your eggs into one basket
The trp is a much heavier gun. It's probably easier to shoot rapidly. Does it replace two guns? Probably not.

As far as a G19 being as nice as a TRP....we don't need to go there, two different guns totally. Ones a duty gun the other is a highly machined piece of art.

Shoot the GLOCK and see how well you like it. I prefered my G19 over my Springfield and also shot better with it, so I sold all my 1911's. Use the tool that fits you best. You may end up liking both and just being happy with what you already have as well. Good luck!

Buying a wide variety of cheaper guns from different manufacturers allowed me to learn what I like and develop my tastes. I started with Glocks and M&Ps and now I'm more into Sigs and HKs.
