If you can count it all, you DON'T have enough.
When you lose count of how man 40mm cans FULL of ammo you have, THEN you have enough.

I tried counting all of mine once but I kept getting stuck at 10.
Thank God I didn't use binary.NRA Life Member

I love that no one knows... I thought owning and showing horses were expensive, but at this point I feel like guns are comparable.
I've got 2,650 rounds of 22LR, and 550 rounds of 9mm... That's what happens when you're a newbie gun owner
I'm trying to avoid online ordering anymore, my bank account already hates me.

Call me paranoid, but putting what I've got into some app that might be communicating with who knows where makes me uneasy. I just use a spreadsheet, so I know what to prioritize.Comment

It's probably just a better idea to count how many boxes/spam cans you have instead of individual rounds.
Loose stuff gets stored in tupperware and I don't bother counting it.Comment

See sig about how much you need.It doesn't matter how scary, ugly, uncomfortable, or inconvenient self defense can be. Like it or not, you will never, ever be relieved of your duty and responsibility to defend your life, your family, your country and your freedom.
How much ammo do I need? Enough to last me the rest of my life, and then lot more for later.

Guess that makes me very paranoid as I wouldnt use a computer program or an app!
I only counted mine once and since have used a piece of paper and a pen to keep track. I "check out" an amount to my range bag and there it stays until its gone. I dont like the additional work of checking items in the bag back in. Easy to update my "library" as I buy in even numbers.
I am quite forward thinking and like to ensure I have a good supply of any given caliber. I know the yearly mean of everything I shoot and this allows me not to get in a situation where Im paying $50 a brick.Comment

The more I think about these dedicated apps, the more like utter folly they seem. Just consider the potential for evil: Knowing your ammo gives them a pretty good idea what sort of guns you have. Maybe you even told it directly what guns you have. The gadget you're using the app on probably has a gps, so it would be trivial for the app to know where you live. It also could easily know where you work, and even where you currently ARE! That'd make for a pretty low stress burglary...
I admit that the apps are probably legit and not tracking you. But you're trusting a basically unknown app with unknown authors, and just imagine the potential for evil. Talk about handing them the keys to your castle!
So yeah. No amount of convenience is worth this risk.Comment
