Thanks. I'm glad it worked out in that situation too but real peeved about it still. I know it could have turned out worse.

Me and the wife had a long talk about the situation last night and I did tell her she needs to be more aware, A LOT more aware, especially when I'm not with her. Even if she had CCW or pepper spray or whatever - if I wasn't with her last night, she wouldn't have had time to use any of that as she wasn't paying attention to her surroundings. They would have been just a few FEET behind her before she ever even realized something was up and that wouldn't have been enough time to use a defensive weapon.

Loaded mag next to pistol in a car safe under the seat.

Maybe give it some thought considering the situation you just faced. Real steel would have been the best option.

My Ol lady has terrible situational awareness. In those cases a defensive weapon can quickly be turned against you...

Very unnerving situation no matter how or what you used to handle it. Use it as a lesson learned and don't let it happen again, you might not be as lucky.

How easy it is that folks, in a stressful situation, forget about the much more powerful weapon at hand....your truck. Think of the impression a 2-ton truck, with it's high beans on, speeding toward them would have had.

Something I've never understood concerning your wife having to walk across the lot back to you. Why wouldn't you park in front of the store, since there were no other customers, to save her the walk and to establish a protective presence?

            Jeez...she used a 7-11 ATM? That's gotta be a least a $3.00 convenience fee
Seriously tho, good job on keeping the wife safe.

Who sends his wife into a 7-11 at 11pm alone to get cash? Even more, you sensed something was up but you continued to sit in your truck?

Which 7-11 was it so we can Google Earth it to see the purported alley and bushy landscape you speak of? Not that I don't believe you, of course.

This is the first time I have ever agreed with ChrisC.

It is strange...also strange that the Airsoft was out of the packaging before it got home...stars really aligned on this one.

Even if I had one of my real guns with me, it would most likely be locked in my truck bed and unloaded. I would have had time to get it out and load it up in that time period? It happened fast. It went from suspicious loiterers to possibly real serious crime real quickly from the time she walked in til the time she walked out. CCW would have been ideal if they actually had balls and a firearm.
Situational awareness. You had the time to observe all the details in your OP, it takes about .5 seconds for me to open my gunvault and load my gun. If I had been in your situation I would have left the BB gun and gone without it. Odds are if they're better than me at boxing or BJJ, I've got a whipping coming to me but at least there's no gun in play

So you just sat in your truck and watched as two shady characters cased out your wife? Not to mention you sent her inside instead of going yourself? If they were faster and you didn't have a toy gun, the situation could have been much, much worse.

Thanks Riddler. Laying on the horn didn't even pop into my head in the moment.

Loaded mag next to pistol in a safe would be alot better than what I had to use. I'll be looking into some safes to put under the seat.

They could have had their own firearm(s), maybe even real ones lol. Maybe they actually did but they had just enough brains to not want to get into a fire fight in the parking lot.

I do find a little bit of humor in the fact that a freaking bb gun may have saved my wife's life (possibly even mine).

If I didn't have anything with me, I guess I could have laid on the horn for a second to see if that would stop them. If not, the only other thing I had in my truck was a bowie knife.

The lesson: Get CCW. Carry real gun.

Don't bring an unloaded Airsoft to a gunfight.

I was hanging out in the alley with my buddy the other night by the 7-11. We were waiting for our friend to get off work, she was late so we kept looking in. She waved at us to come inside and when we started walking that way this guy jumped out of his car with a gun. He had been eyeing us for awhile, probably wanted to rob us, but we ran away.

That's what you call a no win situation.

Get a CCW or something as simple as this: http://www.amazon.com/GunVault-NV300...sxp_grid_i_2_1

It is kind of funny in a way when you first read the story since those dudes were such cowards, however the unknowns make people like myself see deeper into it.

I've been approached in similar ways in the past and the men in question wanted nothing more than a light, a cigarette or to make a phone call and didn't have any change.

Was stupid to park in an aisle across in hindsight, we didn't think anything of it. Next time we'll park right in front of the door if possible.
