Placing someone on the prohibited list

he comes on here posting about someone who he thinks is going postal, changes his mind, etc. etc.
who is he and how is he qualified to make such a judgment call? Everyone jumps on board saying ""report him, yada, yada yada""

gbp-please show me where I have changed my mind in this thread? To me the threats are serious enough even though only implied. Just because I dont believe he is going to follow through doesn't mean these threats should be ignored. Any threat involving firearms should be taken very seriously.

I am trying to maintain some anonymity for my mentally ill coworker, his family, and my fellow employees. I don't feel it is my place to divulge other people's privacy.

I came here for advice. I got some really good advice by some well informed people. I didn't come here to feed people lurid details, of which there are many. My coworkers behavior has become more erratic and scary. He is currently being investigated for criminal stalking.

I am not sure what other people are doing in this matter. Our higher ups at work are pretty tight lipped about it,I know that they too have been in contact with legal authorities. I will say that I don't have complete faith in them pursuing this matter to the extent that it deserves.

I understand that the premise of losing your 2A rights can be very upsetting to people on this forum. Believe me I pondered this very hard before deciding on my course of action and coming to this board for advice. After sharing what my coworker had been posting to one LEO I was told, "why not just tell me that he verbally threatened you, then I can get the ball rolling on this." So I don't think I'm just crying wolf here.

At this point I'm not sure I'm ready to compromise my personal moral beliefs, I am contemplating this option though. I am still trying to work inside our existing legal framework for now.

I hope that no one ever finds themselves in my situation. Unfortunately it will probably happen to someone in the future. I tried searching Calguns for advice prior to posting because of the zoo that this place has become. If anyone reads this in the future for advice, please pm me. If I am no longer active contact the mods, they will know how to get ahold of me. I will help you out.

He's only insinuated violence with firearms....this mentally unstable person? If you took away his avenue to purchasing a firearm.....legally...or even illegally, he'll cease his violent insinuations? He won't defer to other things like cars, bombs, knives, chemicals, etc...? That's good to know

You're in a tough spot here. Really the only prudent thing to do is constantly monitor him and inform law enforcement. Even if he gets put on the prohibitive list, it's not going to be the end of it if he's truly crazy and willing. Imagine if Adam Lanza was on this list. Would that have stopped him from going to his mom's collection?

My bad, Chris Dorner. Also, I realize guns are only one avenue of potential violence. Let's be honest though, they can be readily obtained, fairly simple to operate and extremely deadly. Also, my mentally ill coworker has said he is going to obtain an AR. That makes this possibility very real to me.

Blocking my coworker from obtaining a firearm is only one of the things I have done to try and help him. After the way this thread has played out I am not going to solicit more advice. I feel confident in the other routes I have taken to help this individual. I have sought advice from other resources. I posted here because this one route is highly germane to guns and gun owners. As I said before, I received some great advice.

A simple call to local PD may result in a "welfare" type check. If they deem it serious, they will attempt to visit him. Always take things like this serious. That check-up could result in preventing a crime. Forget about the "prohibited" thing, determined people can & will attain what they want/need, even without money.

Law enforcement is the REACTIVE side of the justice system. You need to wait until the nut job goes and posts pics of himself like Al Qaeda...next to his victims with rifle in hand before they will react. Lol

Stop posting, watch your six, and make sure you file a report to make sure that it is on record that YOU did warn each agency about this nutcase. If they fail to act and he does go nuts, it's the government's own fault that THEY DID NOTHING.

I don't think he's going to do it.

He hasn't posted any direct threats. Just vague references to some weird book about soldiers returning from war who are addicted to violence.

hopefully he does not get shot by the police if they go to do thier wellfare check and he doesnt respond to thier comands fast enough since the OP got them worked up
