Anyone with a Pistol Only grip Shotgun at the range is profiled by me....

If I have to shoot indoors, I prefer ranges where the lane dividers are bullet proof... So if someone in the next lane over is dumb and cranks a round sideways into the lane divider- it stays in their lane...

Normally you can spot the idiots by the target carrier jumping from a bullet hit....

With people I've known: A bunch of friend went shooting with me for the first time. One of them kept loading guns near the vehicles and chambering a round before walking to the firing line(BLM land). We gave him many chances, the final straw was when we were checking out my new gun near the truck and weren't watching him, he tried to quick draw a small frame 1911 from his pocket and almost shot a toe off. He wasn't allowed to shoot without someone standing with him anymore and had to take a timeout. This was a 22 yr old man.

I usually only use my own guns for BLM newbies... I do the all the reloading and if they're really not listening I'll take them away before they're empty... although that has only been one person so far... got to use the 'we're done here' line.

anyway; that way when they're standing in the right place the right way they get the gun and when its empty it gets handed back to me.

I've never experienced anything really bad, but at Burro Canyon a week or two ago the range officers were repeatedly calling out people for stepping over the red line during cease fires, sometimes multiple times during one cease fire. There was also one guy who actually went back to handle his gun before the range was called hot. The range officer immediately corrected the situation, but probably should have kicked the guy off the range for the day.

I shot a natural gas pipeline once. Dumbest thing I've ever done. Hit it from 20 feet with a 7.62x39. Inch wide by inch deep crater but didnt penetrate.

Guy was upset that his (.223) AR wouldn't load right. Didn't understand why that 9mm ammo wouldn't work when it worked so well in his pistol...

On BLM, saw a group of 'gangstas' or wanna be 'gangstas' all sharing a couple guns amongst them.

Anyways, long story short, no muzzle discipline, no trigger discipline, in fact, just no discipline of any thing.

Often, I would glance their direction just to be situationally aware and would see one or two of them on the hill side arranging clay targets to shoot at while one of the fools in the group was actively shooting at the same targets. I honestly thought someone was going to get shot that day.

When people dress and act like thugs, it prevents them from receiving any life saving tips from fellow shooters. They were unapproachable.

I don't know about dumb... but last time I was at the range, about an hour or so before closing, 3 guys with headsets (mics and all) and camo pants show up and haul so many gun cases out to a single bench it takes them two trips. They covered the bench with handguns, and hadn't even cracked into half of their cases yet.
I'm talking log gun cases, giant oversized multi-handgun cases, and this huge case with wheels.

Then they put out some human shaped targets (not allowed) and had to cover them up. Then they spent the entire firing session standing around until the range officer made them reduce the clutter. After that they moved the targets in closer, and they still hadn't shot anything by the time I left.

It's not a range story, just a dumbass individual story.

One of my buddies used to think it was hilarious to take his semi auto pistol, remove the mag and completely unload it, lock the slide back then shove it in the face of his room mate and release the slide via lowering the slide lock. Scared the **** out of her and he thought it was great.

I never saw him do it but I did tell him what a jackass he was and why. I think he took my not so subtle hints and has since thought about firearm safety a bit more.

There was this guy who came next to my lane and took around 20 mins to set up. I was wondering what he was doing, but didn't look over since i didn't want to be nosy. He finally sends the target down range and I'm loading more rounds into my mag, When I hear 4 shots, and the corner of my eye I see him pack up and leave. I'm like... Wth... And I look down range and see his target and wires on the floor LOL. I don't think the people that work there found out until after he left.

Some folks from Utah (or fans of Utah branded clothing) stopped by P2K one day. Senor El Spectaculo Tacticulo asks one of the employees if he can shoot moving targets. She said sure. The targets only move back and forth, knock yourself out. Whatever.

He sits on the floor under the bench and has his wife push the switch to bring the target carrier back towards the firing line.

As he blazes away at the impending doom represented by 3 mph cardboard the muzzle of his gun keeps rising.

We got to watch this guy stitch the ceiling all the way back to about 3 yards before taking the gun away and asking him to leave. Truly amazing.

What is the weirdest or worst stupid shooter story you can think of? Whether it was a random person at the range or someone who was part of your shooting group?

When I was in the National Forest shooting area. These dudes "set up" to do some shooting. Out came the case of beer, the "rap' started blaring from the car and the smell of weed was wafting over the range. I left before the guns went off.

The Forest Service shut down that place because of "problems".

This is why I shoot alone on BLM land. I can be as retarded as I want and nobody will know.
