Stopped going to gun shows around 1995. Back then all they had were reloads and jerky anyway. Occasionally you would get a deal on surplus russian ammo, but back then it was plentiful.

I stopped taking a decent roll of folding money to the huge gun shows in the 1990's, after the Los Angeles City Council booted Crossroads from the LA County Fairplex in Pomona.

I did go to the last Xroads gun show at Cal Expo and I bought some ammo which wasn't a bad price. I got my 223cal from Miwall and waited in line once in the building for about 35min. The price I paid came out to 35cent a round. didn't get any jerky. I used to get their salami.

That was the last show I went to in the late 70s early 80s. 2 buildings of guns and a little bit of garbage.

If you don't think that 500 rounds of 22 lr for 80 bucks isn't a rip off, then I wonder what your definition of rip off is.

I bought the exact same box of ammo yesterday for 32 dollars from Cabelas shipped.

There were more books, VHS tapes and other useless accessories than there were guns. Seems like a rip off to me, considering it costs 10 bucks to enter or 9 with the discount

Never been to one. Obviously I'm very late to the game. I believe the only thing making up for those awesome gun shows of the past might be all the great deals and info we have right in front of us. My Kindle brings it all to me.
Sorry I missed them, but this doesn't seem to bad.

All gun shows are ripoffs. The money you pay for parking/entry along with typical gunshow prices put you at a loss over just buying at a LGS. If you want to actually save money buy online.

I really like to know just how well you went through the show. I vend at the shows, have a minimum of 35 new handguns and 12 new long guns on the tables. I regularly hear people compliment me on my prices. Yes, the shows have beef jerky etc. Will the shows ever be like the early 90's............no. You can thank the never ending flow of laws that require the use of a FFL for PPT, curio relic restrictions etc. For the last 4 shows I have Glocks at 497.00 as an example.

All the handguns I saw were over 500. An XD for example was like 537 or around that ball park.

I hear what your saying. I have been going to gun shows since the late 80s. I have seen how the California gun shows have evolved into what they are today. I still go to them from the small ones in Sockton to the large ones at the Cow Palace. I have also been to a few in Arizona and Texas so I know the compairison. Its not just the deals Im looking for. Its getting out of the house for a day and walking around looking at the stuff that peaks my interest. Shows around here will never be what they once were do to gun laws we now have imposed on us. It aint easy being a promoter of gun shows around here. You try to fill the tables the best you can. No one promises your going to find the best deals at these shows but what a shame it would be if gun shows were abolished all together in this state. If you dont like them, dont go. If you go, they thank you for your support. You dont realize what you got until there gone...

Being disappointed does not equate to being ripped off. It sucks, but it's not a rip off.

It's not a rip off if you don't buy. The world doesn't owe you deals at the click of a mouse or push of a button, although it is nice these days to be able to do so.

Complaining about the cost to get in, then complaining about the prices, is like paying to get into a club on Saturday night, and then getting angry at the bar owner that the place is not filled with hawt hunnies.

Please save "rip off" for things like getting a $35 parking ticket, then finding it costs $210 at the service window of the courthouse to pay it off.

I'll agree that "rip off" is a much over used phase however it may apply in this case. Often a gun show means driving several miles, sometimes hundreds, paying too much for parking and admission and then finding a second rate flea market /garage sale within.
I can remember real gun shows at the Cow Palace and Cal Expo back not that many years ago where everything shooting was available....from basics to gadgets. It was a great time!
But that was then and this..............
