    Training?

I asked this question on another forum and got some interesting responses so I thought I would ask it here.

Those of you that have never attended weapon or tactics training, why haven't you?

When I ask this question, I usually get the "its too much money" comment (not that it applies to anyone in this thread). I then ask them the following questions:

    1. Have you bought a Gun this year or last year?
    2. Have you bought gear for the weapons you own?
    3. Do you go out to eat a lot?
    4. Do you drink/smoke a lot?
    5. Do you have a non productive bad habit that is wasting money (like a girlfriend)?

Owning a lot of guns and gear is GREAT, but if you do not know how to properly use them, then what good are they? The only person that is going to protect you and what is important to you is YOU!

Please respond, I would like to hear.

I don't attend training classes because I am too busy shooting 2-3 matches a month.
    Last weekend's results are here

I think I need training on how to zero my rifle before a match.

        Lesson learned this month.
LaRue mounts don't necessarily return to zero.

Many firearm folks have never taken a firearm self defense course. Taking a level 1 defensive handgun course really will open your eyes and hopefully your mind . If you're buying a handgun for self defense/home defense the next best money (bang-for-your-buck) spent is a level 1 course and ammo.

Hey, I do/did all of those.

But I see the value and importance of taking classes. Happy to say I have taken courses which were fun and very informative.

No matter how much magic pixie dust there is, I don't think that anything that is detachable can be 100% returned. It may not be apparent but there will always be some variation.

I've attended training and have been practicing my skills, but I am certainly due for more within the next year.

Yes for 1 and 2 and no for the others... The training I've received has opened my eyes to what I don't know and has made me much more aware of my surroundings. I try to impart at least the awareness factor to all of my friends, but they are of the school of this can't happen to me. I travel in different circles...
more training is on the horizen for me. I found it to be rather exhilerating.

Look at my rifle stage time in the results above.
I was holding for solid hits and it turned out I was off a few inches at 150yds.
Once I started holding left, I was making hits fine.
Cost me at least 30-40 seconds to figure that out.
