Just use something, most of the guns i see are so dry i do not know how they fire properly. metal on metal needs something. i would rather error on the too much oil vrs too dry. case in point a M1 garand needs everything lubed to work properly.

I tried a ton of different stuff after my wife wouldn't shut up about the smell of Hoppe's #9. So it was either find something new or clean guns outside. I landed on Rem oil and clean guns while watching TV with her. No complaining makes me happy. I use grease on the slippy parts though.

My can of Rem oil is now my household lube. Works great on door hinges and locks.

The bottle of frogclean also works perfectly, sitting in the back of the cleaning cab, un-disturbed.

I just switched to that myself. I sprayed some of their cleaner in my "clean" 1911 barrel and within minutes there were globs of powder residue inside it. Makes my slide move with almost no friction now too.

+1. Anything is better than Rem Oil.

                  I use Ballistol.

I first used Rem Oil on a new Colt 6920. It went dry in less than 100 rounds. That was the last time I use Rem Oil.

This stuff is cool, if it just easier to order online with a credit card.
