Dress Code at Public Gun Range?

Huh? I've never heard of any establishment being successfully sued because their patrons wore something with the "F-bomb" or epithets on it. What I see at the range mirrors what I see in Costco, Starbucks, the malls etc etc.

So? Maybe you need to dig a bit deeper? In any event why would a range want to allow garb like that which you describe, particularly when kids are present?

Are you sure the ACLU and others like them have ever picked a fight on dress-codes that someone deems discriminatory? While a private range on private land could probably restrict a lot of items, I doubt a concessionaire operating on government land could. .gov has to deal with a lot of hassles that a private owner may not just by virtue of being on taxpayer owned land with lots of interested non-profit litigious taxpayer groups looking in on things.

For me, anyone who screams and yowls because of a piece of hot brass or any tiny little booboo on their foot is a crybaby...but then again I have a high threshold of pain. I just can't stand wusses.

LOL!! Are you serious?! It's simply ignorant to dismiss the wearing of closed-toed shoes, collared shirts, caps, etc. because getting burned by hot brass is some sort of test of manhood in your world. That's absolutely nuts.

The issue of offensiveness is another story. There are people who will be offended about anything if you give them enough leeway. Any man offended by other grownups wearing shorts has some serious issues and most likely should go sit back down and hook up to his oxygen because his COPD is clearly affecting his brain. I can see being offended by someone shooting shirtless but it wouldn't be the end of my world and I wouldn't give up my lane and move just because of their presence. Anyone thin-skinned and delicate enough to be offended by folks in hoodies, shorts and sandals with socks on is probably brittle to the point of having a hard time functioning in the world and we can do without them in our sport...I would argue that some folks are "not worth not offending".

"Shorts"? I don't think shorts are really a safety issue -- unless perhaps one is shooting while sitting on the ground. Eye and ear protection, closed toed footwear and the like are. Apples and oranges.

You can tell by the polling that Calguns poll takers don't really believe in personal freedom either. Not so shocking to some of us. Verbage and offensive clothing? Seriously? Do you really want to step into that quagmire?

Do what you want in your private life.

But when you go to a public range that might well have kids present, leave your "I need more attention" clothes at home.

Depends on the type of range. I've worn flip-flops at my local indoor range, but they have good dividers and I was shooting revolvers that day so NBD.

Wear what makes you comfortable..

I would encourage no low cut shirts or open toed shoes, but hey, some people like to learn the hard way. Some groups do it very rarely or as a social thing, as evidenced by any public range on a weekend day - females in expensive jackets, nice jeans, designer glasses and high heels.

I taught a group of females who showed up the first session in "dressy" clothes like it was a night on the town, but the second session on they wised up after seeing one of them sustain a pretty good cherry on the boob form a .40 case

They are being paid money, to wear a uniform at an event, as a representative for whatever sponsor is writing the check. You do understand that right?

Why's that?

The subject of the thread is important and there has been a great deal of good discussion.

Yes, the trolls showed up early and did their best to crap on it (as they do many threads started by many people) but such losers are easily ignored.
