lost gun pick up papers

Have the pickup procedures changed? When I picked up my AK on the 5th they just needed my ID. Certainly didn't ask about papers other than what I had to sign.

did you read the rest of the thread? cause we've established that they shouldn't have changed for pickup. When I bought my 1911 the address on my ID wasn't current. So upon purchase and DROS/DOJ papers I had to show 2 alternate forms. Bike registration and a water bill. when I went back 10 days later I just showed my ID.

This particular store is making it hard for them. They say they're going to help, and going to give them a gift card, but that's not enough IMO.

The store is trying to help as much as they can inside store policy. If it were me I'd be returning it and making my purchase elsewhere.

You know how State law supersedes Federal so long as it's more stringent or law exists in state where federal law does not? well it's the same thing here. the store policy has gone well beyond what state actually requires. They claim it because they're trying to make sure they don't screw up this new "registered" long guns law.

CYA only goes so far. If you sell something, and then fail to provide the product you have sold, that is theft.

I don't disagree with that either. But in the end don't we all just want our stuff? isn't it easier to get what we've paid for and do what's asked then deal with the legal stuff in filing a report?

So OP is the problem that she lost the paperwork or that she can't produce the required I'D even if she had her copy? The former has nothing to do with the latter.

because the can't produce the store provided paperwork upon pickup she's being required to provide ID and 2 confirming proof of residency. If she had the store provided papers we wouldn't be in this situation. If she'd have given them the papers they gave her she'd have the gun already.

If it's theft you'll need to show the store had no intention of fulfilling the contract. Right now it's a dispute, not a criminal act.

The gun has already been bought and the 10 day wait is over. All she needs now is the store to hand over her property. A driver's license, which matches the copy they took for their paperwork, is all she needs. The store needs some handholding and someone to gently proceed with management on the process.

That's on the store. They could say her hairstyle is different on her I.D. She just needs to point out she no longer needs to show she is a resident but that she is the person who bought the gun.

This. Crucifying the girl for misplacing paperwork is absurd. BFD. I've picked up plenty of firearms without having my receipt at other gunshops. An adult who can't be bullyed needs to go with her to the store and resolve this with the store manager.

If there is a requirement for two forms of i.d. on a long gun make them show you the statute and ask why they sold her the firearm in the first place if that was a requirement. Her driver's license matches the one they have a frigging photo copy of; how much more proof positive do they need?

If they refuse after that get a lawyer involved.

walked into Turners with just my ID and that was it. They pulled up my info and had my papers

If she can prove who she is, then she doesn't need the paperwork. All the paperwork does is show the purchase receipt. The store should have that documentation. I'd be annoyed.
