lost gun pick up papers

Yeah, except for my old P99c and my 870 I didn't even need ID to pick them up. They just recognized me and handed them over after I signed the form at my Rod & Gun Club. That Turner's in Oxnard was different. They almost didn't want to release the P220 because they're ****heads.

Umm they need to hold that paperwork for something like 5 years IIRC

FFL01's keep paperwork until the end of time, and if they go out of business, they send it to ATF.

I left the paperwork in my other car - it wouldn't start this morning and I was going to be late for work.

I forgot the paperwork at work, I was in a rush to get over here before you closed.

Not his place to make judgment calls on an individuals right to purchase a gun. I'd make a call to his district manager and to the corporate office and be getting a gift card of some denomination.

I bought some guns at a Big 5, and they gave me a receipt that clearly states that I needed to bring the receipts back with me to pick up the guns. I got back to the store to do the pickup, and realized that the receipts were in the other vehicle. Walked in, asked if it mattered, and was told that they only needed my ID.


If I purchased a gun, and the FFL refused to release it for any reason other than a problem with the paperwork or the DOJ/FBI background check saying they can't release the gun, I'd be talking with the DOJ/ATF about the stolen firearm.

After the 10 day wait it is her gun, if they try to keep it longer then it is theft. I would say, here is my valid ID and if that isnt good enough then I am calling the police to make a theft report on a firearm.

so check this out...his daughter is being required to show two proof of residency papers. Either utility bill, registration, or credit card. Since she's 18 she doesn't have a CC. and she doesn't own a car. Nor, since she's never rented has she had utilities.

This is apparently new to CA cause of the "everything is registered" law.

So she's having to jump through hoops to get her gun. How BS is that. Apparently she's filling out some Rental agreement with her parents proving she's rented from them for 2 + years. and they're transferring a car into her name. Oh and if that all takes longer than 30 days she has to start the whole process over again.

Seems like it would be easier and less costly to transfer a utility bill to her name. Car registration changes could take weeks.

Ridiculous complications for a dependent to receive a gift though.

ya WTF? I don't know if they can transfer utilities in that city. I know in Roseville (where I am) you have to have an account with Roseville to transfer it. that takes time too. They want Tax papers to transfer a utility from on address to your name.

A friend of mine bought his daughter her first gun 11 days ago. She's 18, it's in her name. She lost all of the paperwork. The store logically wont give it to her without the papers...

Now, aside from the "If she's loosing paper work in 10 days, she shouldn't own a gun" argument I feel is coming, what can they do?

Huh? What's logical about that? I've never had to produce COPIES of the paperwork to pick up a firearm from a FFL.

This doesn't make sense. You need to be 21 to buy a handgun, or stripped lower. It sounds like they went to the store, picked out the gun, father paid and daughter did the dros. A handgun requires a second form of ID, and I don't believe a credit card cuts it.
Because she's under 21, I have to assume she bought a long gun, which doesn't need a second ID, unless it's a stupid store policy.
Whatever ID she presented to process the Dros should be more than sufficient for pickup.

what should have been said was. "for of proof of purchase" weather that's the store given papers, or her ID (which we've already established should be acceptable). They logically can't give a gun to someone base upon me saying I have a gun to pick up. How the freak do they know I'm who I say I am with out proof. They have to Cover their asses too.

Apparently they didn't ask for that up front. they're giving her a discount and a $100 gift card, but they screwed up. Either way, she doesn't have any of those 2nd forms of proof or residency. weather or not a CC should be acceptable doesn't really matter, she doesn't have any other form.

Per the DOJ website:

Examples of acceptable proof of residency pursuant to newly-proposed regulations:
DMV registrations are NOW acceptable.
Electricity, gas, cable bill from within the last 3 months.
Signed, dated and notarized rental agreement/contract.
Examples of documents that are NOT acceptable proof of residency:
Hunting or fishing license (these documents are not issued by the government).
Cellular phone bill.
Passport.
Pay stub.
