Considering his lengthy career in law enforcement, his training/experience and the fact he was armed and mentally "ready" to use his firearm, I'd say he was quite comfortable (and prepared) answering/opening the door.

Darwinism award for the perp who had previously been in his house as an exterminator. Maybe he should have paid better attention to all the signs this was a cop's house.

Just imagine if ever house was armed, wonder how many burglars would change their plans.

The NRA and every firearm manufacturer should pony up the money and run this as a "Public Safety" announcement before, during and after the Super Bowl. Get the word out to a captured audience for one of the biggest sporting event in the world.

So much fail in this video. Opened the door at night to strangers. Didn't bring extra magazines to the party.Retreated and then exited the house while there was still a threat. Fired at fleeing vehicle. I think in Ca this would get him hooked and booked.

He never said he fired at the vehicle, he said he pointed his gun at it when the backup lights came on and then the driver sped away.

He opened the door and confronted the threat because he had the skills, training, experience and the equipment to do so.

                              He was prepared.

                              Simple as that.....
