It's his home. He has every right to do what he wants with his door any time of the day. He obviously handled it well enough after.

Just another reason to allow standard 10+ round magazines. Sometimes 10 or less isn't enough.

He should have been able to see perps through the glass door and or side-lites. In which case, he should have called the cops. I imagine he had a 'gung-ho or vigilante' type attitude being retired LEO and opened the door.
