Well not surprisingly, there are no details as to circumstances (Not that I expect them to give any for over 1800 confiscations). This could be anything from people not following the proper prodecure for transporting a gun in your checked bags to forgetting your carry gun on your person, to carrying one on without a permit simply because you're an idiot.

All it tells me is that more people are transporting firearms via the major airlines now compared to the past. Not necessarily a bad thing in my opinion. People just need to be more informed about the regulations.
