I'm looking for somewhere to go shooting, on BLM/National Forest/other government owned agency land within 4 hours or so of the bay area. I don't mind a long ride getting there, and camping near the destination is a plus but not necessary. One of the main concerns is that the area has to be accessible on a sportbike or sport touring type motorcycle. Anyone have any recommendations?

Tahoe National Forest - Forest Hill is the nearest town with food and maybe a room to rent - Morning Star Lake Resort/Camping with showers, a short dirt grave road to get there. But for the love of God, don't shoot near the camp ground in the early morning. I'll be sleeping in until it hits 80 degree's
. That should be about 8:30am.
Very interesting!!
Uhh.ohh, wifes home gotta go....

Thanks for the recommendation Jeff. I'll look into it!
If anyone has more places to check out, I'd love to hear them, it's a long summer, plenty of time for multiple road trips!Comment

There's lots of areas east of the Central Valley. Could you be more specific about where you're coming from? Walnut Creek? Pinole? San Jose?
If you want to come up highway 88, the Bear River Reservior has camping, motorcycle riding, 4x4, and quad-riding. Lots of trail just over the dam. Here's picture so you can get an idea of the landscape.

Coming from Walnut Creek. 88 is good and any specific areas off of 4 or 108 would be great too, as long as it wouldn't be too challenging getting in or out on a sportbike.Comment

Oh dude, screw Lake Tahoe.... go to Lake Berryessa! drive 10 miles past Spanish Flat and you have one of the best OHV and shooting area's in the area hands down.Originally posted by pullnshoot25I would love to have a hole cut in the ceiling so I could pop out and BAM! I was actually at the bridge past spanish flats last weekend talking to another rider inquiring about shooting areas close by. He mentioned an area right off of knoxville road, but also said the ride in would suck horribly on a motorcycle, it was more meant for 4x4's or trucks. Then this morning I was asking my boss about it and he recommended the same place, said it has been 3 years or so since he'd been there but the road would be just fine for bikes...maybe I'll just have to get out there and see it with my own eyes.
Elkins Flat and Gold Note OHV...got it. I'll check them both out, thanks for the tip!Comment
