    Future weapons and 5.56mm

All he ever whispers is that the 5.56mm lacks stopping power, funny thing is word in the sandbox is that it works just fine and has been doing so almost 50 years now.
I have seen a few episodes where he is shooting metal silhouettes with 5.56mm hitting low on target, and 6.5mm or 6.8 or what ever else round he is shooting hitting the target high knocking it over.

I think the 5.56mm is the perfect round for the job, you can carry allot of it, it is very accurate, and controllable in FA.

I am so tired of people saying that 5.56mm lacks power. Anyone here have any real world experience? If so please share if you feel comfortable doing so.

FutureWeapons is nothing more than an extended commercial. It's just advertisements for the products they showcase.

I love my Beowulf upper and think it's great, but I HIGHLY doubt they are common in the battlefield today, especially with the low supply of ammo. He made them out to be in almost every Humvee.

FutureWeapons is fun to watch when you're bored, but don't believe the propaganda.

Plain and simple, the guy is a [marketing] tool.

One of my IDF friends told me what their philosophy on the 5.56. He said "you keep shooting until they drop, you never just shoot one bullet." The logic in it made me think an actual situation. If they don't fall immediately after one shot, keep shooting. I bet 4 rounds of 5.56 in the chest will do the job. If it doesn't, keep shooting. When it comes down to reality, 7.62 vs 5.56 doesn't really matter. In a combat situation, use what you have and shoot until they drop. It's baking cookies with a measuring cup.

The IDF has lots of experience, and manufactures their own ammo. They choose 5.56 and the M16 for a reason. Heck they retired the Galil. There is something very effective about well placed shots.

Did you know that while its illegal in California a .22lr can take down a deer? Most people (myself included) use 30.06, .308, or even 7mm. Its all about shot placement and not about the size of the holes. Keep shooting till they go down. -I just finished reading "Lone Survivor" its a SEALS book....they use 5.56 as well. Its all about shot placement.

btw I'm new here, so hi!

real world expirience: 5.56 nato makes holes just fine. many people feel confidence with more serious calibers. there are good combo rifles that recently came out. and it's no accident.

I hate how people hunt deer with a bow and arrow.

This is not a dating website. If that is what you're looking for, then go to one of those websites. Don't drive away members by being overly aggressive, and knock off the "show your assets - this thread is worthless without pictures" stuff. It is not needed, and I suspect it's a reason why we have so many more female lurkers, than female posters.
