While the mom (and probably her whole family) are total loosers, NOTHING in that video or what the officer saw upon arrival justified his opening fire on a vehicle that presented no immediate threat.

This from a guy that thinks if you run from the cops you deserve the serious butt whupping that's coming when they catch you and should have no legal recourse.

Isn't one of the gun safety rules to know what you are pointing at, and know what is behind it? At least, to some reasonable extent?

My opinion is that police need to show more restraint, even when their own lives are in danger. Shooting, or risking shooting, innocent civilians because you felt endangered is unacceptable. Police work is known to be a risk, don't join up if you can't handle it.

Mom should be in prison for endangering all those children, the officers, and every other person she endangered during the chase.

This is how I feel by what I saw of the encounter. I think the officer that fired on the vehicle was definitely wrong but he did arrive on a chaotic scene. It's hard to say what anybody would do in that situation. Prosecute the mother and her 14 year old son, they caused the situation.

welcome the new guy to cal guns. It wasnt sarcastic at all. MOST PDs use of force policies allow leo to use deadly force to stop a fleeing felon. Yeah the van was full of kids, the driver decided not to comply with leo and flee. THERE FORE PUTTING HER SELF, HER KIDS AND OTHER DRIVERS AT RISK. I dunno about you but my family drives on roadways and Id be pretty pissed if they plowed into my family fleeing for law enforcement over something stupid.
