Help on bringing a M1A into California

I have a chance to purchase a Springfield M1A from a friend in Texas. What do I need to do (If anything) to legally get it into California? TIA, Steve

Remove the flash suppressor if it has one, and no high cap mags. That's it.

Have him ship it to an FFL of your choosing. You can then do the paperwork and start the waiting period just like for any other gun you buy from a store in CA. BUT, the FFL can charge you whatever they want to do the transfer. Usually 50-100 bucks total.

Ensure it isn't configured in violation of CA law.

It does have a flash suppressor and bayonet lug as well as 20 round mags. The mags will stay in Texas. So if I have the seller remove the flash suppressor & bayonet lug it will be legal for California?

The bayonet lug is fine. He could replace the flash suppressor with a muzzle brake or just remove it.

Bayonet lugs are not banned, the federal AWB expired, re-read SB23!

Like others have said, that flash hider needs to go.. the bayo lug isnt an issue.

StevenJay. If "Living in the belly of the liberal beast" is Sacramento, there's an FFL off El Camino that will do the transfer for $25.

Here's the thread for FFL's and thier fees. You should be able to find one local if you're shopping around. If in Sac, look for post#173 in that thread for info.

Thanks to one and all for the info. "Living in the belly of the liberal beast" is in the San Francisco area. But Sacramento would be a very close second.
