This is the key. While handling restrictions might make sense, carrying restrictions are ignorant anti-gun fear mongering.I don't let customers handle loaded guns in my shop including theirs. They either present it unloaded from outside the shop or it stays in the holster. I don't view loaded weapons as threats, I view people handling loaded weapons as threats.

Shop didn't have any signs posted, at least none that I noticed but I wasn't really looking for one either so they very well could have.
As for attention whoring, if bringing up a topic for discussion is whoring then I guess I'm guilty in your book. And the hypocrisy of calling people captain keyboards after the content of your post is hilarious!Stay Low, Go Fast, Take ChancesComment

Seems to be the norm outside of this state. I saw several very similar signs at the gun stores in Idaho when I was there last month. I told several places that was nice because several stores I've been to in CA won't let you carry in store. They couldn't believe it. This state is changing all of us and not for the better.I have walked into gun ranges CCWing and open carrying. I never had a clerk pester me.
I have customers walk in all the time open carrying. Usually it is a gun I sold them. I have never felt threatened. If I drew a gun I would probably lose my business from bad reviews.

I do believe in a store owners right to conduct business as he or she sees fit. But I am now making it a point to tell those stores their are not getting my business because of their policy, that is my right as a consumer.sigpic

There is a LGS and range that i visit which has a similar sign (no loaded weapons) on the front door. I carry anyway. They are free to ask me to leave and I'll be happy to comply, if asked.
They also allow CCW holders to use their holsters, in specified lanes, if you inform them first and present your permit for verification. This I have done on several occasions. I have yet to be asked by the clerk if I was carrying when I entered the store.
In the unlikely event some one walks in the front door of their store with evil intent, I will not be drawing my weapon to protect anyone but myself. My first goal will be to stay out of the line of fire.NRA Life Member

Oh wow. Some ranges don't let you practice with some types of holsters of all things?

The facts are implicit. The guy working at the gun shop had a typical LEO (I am better than you so I can have a gun) type attitude. What surely ensued was that the gun shop employee drew his sidearm and emptied a magazine on a pit bull. It doesn't take a genius to read between the lines and figure that out.
But seriously, why people frequent gun stores is beyond me. I won't set foot inside of a gun store unless it is absolute necessity.Comment

If your offended by the rules, then vote with your money. Someone in the area will be willing to take it. I avoid a couple of gun stores in SD because of attitudes and poor customer service. I don't wish ill on them but they won't get my money either.Calguns Contributor

Worst effing post ever.I have also mentioned this before with ranges. Why is it that people who handle guns all day and purport to support RTKBA/Carry don't want YOU doing it anywhere near them? Because people (in general) are idiots. Ask any range worker how many stupid things a day they see. They know people + guns = danger. And, yes, they feel threatened by anyone (else) who has a gun. BTW - so do I! Cops included. And to the " we all should be able to carry whenever and whereever" crowd... here is your answer. NO ONE likes other people with guns. Even ardent firearms rights supporters.
