This victory was very much needed for moral, with crap like AB 2026 on the horizon. We needed a win reguardless of its significance. This was a supreme court decision, the highest court in our land.
I'm glad we do not adhere to some European world court, the US would be screwed.
Their is still a long campaign ahead, but moral is up. Tommorow is another day.

I think there is more significance in this ruling.

They specifically state self defense (although in the home) as part of the intent of the right to keep and bear arms. This really brings the point of the 2A pretty far from the "militia" argument which is often cited by the anti-gun crowd. We would have to see if it has legs, but the distinction between the right to self defense in the home versus out of the home has got to be tenuous at best.

That the judgement states that 2A applies to individuals and includes self defense could be huge.

Hate to say this but this ruling will help the gun grabbers.

Now the gun grabbers will focus on "reasonable" gun control and all that effort they would waste on total bans will be re-directed as the Supreme Court told the gun grabbers a recipe on how exactly to win while they gave no such explicit instructions on what to do.

After a brief flurry of apparent victories we will be inundated with the new gun grabber laws that address the courts concerns.

I believe it is still up in the air whether this victory was tactical or strategic. I am leaning more towards the former than the latter, sadly. 'Individual' rights mean nothing when they are subject to vague 'reasonable' restrictions.

Those who were expecting that the court would strike down the 86 mg ban, '68 GCA and '34 NFA act in one fell swoop are clearly going to be disappointed. The court has given us a solid legal interpretation that the 2A is and individual right to have and carry arms in the event of a confrontation. Geez, all you half-fuller's ought to just be glad they didn't uphold the DC ban and uphold the idea that the 2A is a collective right.

Open Carry specifically called out as legal under Federal Con Law.

An actual individual right to keep and carry weapons and most all common firearms.
