Asked to remove desktop picture

I'm guessing it is your company's computer? If so, it's their house, their computer, their rules. If you don't like the way they run the railroad, get off the train. Otherwise, put on your big boy pants, put up an appropriate photo and tell your supervisor you are sorry you caused a problem. Work is for work; not to look at pretty pictures.

I'm sure your supervisor has plenty of more important issues to deal with and will appreciate the fact that you handled it in an adult manner.

I've asked coworkers to nix the gun site browsing on occasion. Depending on what else is going on in the office it's just a no-go sometimes. I don't want to see us lose a deal because someone couldn't wait to get home and shop for ammo or whatever.

Damn, I thought I worked at a pretty 2A tolerant place (for being in Cali) but I was just asked to remove my desktop images of my wife and daughter shooting because an anonymous someone was offended that there were firearms in the image. I am kinda bummed. What are your thoughts out there?

I have my friends 10 year old daughter being instructed by soccer coach to stop kicking goals....it makes other kids feel bad... WTF ? If you are good then you are good ! Like telling me back then when I beat all the other kids target shooting....hey stop hitting the bullseye . Yeah right !

I've got a poster of a BCM M4 all tricked out on my wall at work, along with a gun calendar hanging next to it. Course, working on a military weapons range helps a bit.

I'm sorry boss man but I think we can all agree that picture of Jone's wife is ofensive and seriously boss man, that picture of Sarah's kittens that's got to go.

Here's one for you, I work on a Army National Guard base and each month we have a safety meeting which involves all personnel on the site, one month they chose to have firearms safety as the topic. we had numerous complaints from the civilian contractors that they were offended and did not feel they should have to sit through a class about firearms safety.

They have no problem working for and supporting the warfighter and maintenance on military fighting equipment but they don't want to be told anything about private firearms safety, but that's the society we live in especially here in California

Change the computer pic, but have the family pic enlarged and tack it up inside your cubicle/office. Or frame it and put it on your desk.

Sorry but this is really bad advice. To the OP: if you've had that pic up for a long time and nobody complained until now, then it's likely only one person causing this issue for you. Collectively punishing all of your co-workers in retaliation is not a smart response.

I liked the idea about using Photoshop to change the guns into flowers, that's very creative.
