Damn, I thought I worked at a pretty 2A tolerant place (for being in Cali) but I was just asked to remove my desktop images of my wife and daughter shooting because an anonymous someone was offended that there were firearms in the image. I am kinda bummed. What are your thoughts out there?

My friend had a picture of him eating a big big burrito on his desk. Turns out some one found burrito eating offensive. My buddy was asked to consider taking his picture off his desk, as to promote a comfortable work environment for his team. He laughed and took it down.
Seems like we live in a world that caters to the easily offended.Comment

Just make your new desktop image the NRA banner, or the Gadsden flag, or something having to do with supporting our troops
Turn it into a positive.
Better yet, take similar pics of your family shooting water guns, or have them photoshopped in to the original pics. F with 'em, but in a way that won't get you in trouble.Last edited by BigStiCK; 10-04-2013, 4:11 PM.Freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought.

Yea, I am kinda fuming at the moment. I have had the picture up since last fall, none of my direct co-workers have said anything. Funny thing is I actually go shooting with a couple of my co-workers every so often. My boss brought it up politely but it still has me kinda erked. I think the Gadsden will make a wonderful banner
might get them all kinds of riled up. Still it kinda sucks that I cant have a pic of my wife and kid posted up. Cant believe this PC not wanting to offend the meek attitude we have developed as a nation. If I lived in a bit less liberal area I might have just replied "well if they dont like them then dont look" but being the environment im in that would have provided a go home card for me.

Wtf? Thats just plain stupid. What is wrong with people these days. I just hear more and more of this crap. Like the officer who was asked to not show up at his kids elementary school in uniform because he carries a gun. Wtf? We are catering to a bunch of pansies.Comment

sounds like your boss is ok with it but he needs to avoid hostile workplace hoopla in his responsibility to the company (he is messenger but also enforcer at this point). you can have a pic of your family, just not with guns. bossman has asked, next he will tell. not the best time for games imo.Yea, I am kinda fuming at the moment. whoever complained is a db but just do it because its work.
You should do the same when the db outs their self by putting up MOVEON or OFA crap in their cube. Because progs think that stuff only goes one way but the HR people don't usually agree. Even a pic of Obama... I mean; he is objectively a partisan (re: a member of one party) office holder and/or if some people can claim the flag is offensive... why not a president? Anyway; we're here to work... not campaign (so take it down by 5)...Last edited by sl0re10; 10-04-2013, 4:28 PM.Comment
