I had my house fumigated about 6 months ago due to Wood Termites. Even though we have 24 hour security patrol, monitored gates and off duty police patrolling, I emptied out all the contents of my safe and moved all of my guns, ammo, jewlry and items of value over to a buddies safe and my sisters house for the length of the fumigation. After reading about all of the burglaries during fumigation's, I was not willing to take the chance of having all my items of value stolen. It was a huge pain in the arssss to move everything, but at least I wasn't losing sleep worrying all three days about my guns and valuables being stolen. Just my 2 cents.

Had my house fumigated a couple of months ago. The company is SUPPOSED to ask if you have a safe, if you do, they will need to see it open. Reason is that they need to check any enclosed area that is capable of holding a person.

I have heard of the break in issues when houses are being fumigated so I used wood dowels taped to the window sill to physically prevent windows from being opened. The windows that had to be open for ventilation were block from being opened further (about 2 inches). I told all my neighbors and let my local PD know that the house was being fumigated. Anything of value was removed from the house while it was tented.
