Hello, I know I am a new member on this site and theakforum.net, but I just couldn't take it anymore. I had to say something about all the "Refuse to Sell to CA" rants on various fourms and gb. I just think that it is naive for people that do not live in this state comment on our dumb government without any history or being aware of our political dynamic. Just to protest the new law that is coming into affect on July 1st and punish the ones they should be helping just befuddles me. I don't know, maybe you guys should scold me, or maybe I should be praise in giving another point of view? I just do not see the point in not doing business in CA. And as I stated in that forum, I have no problem with giving my business to a company that is willing to do what it takes or at least meet me halfway. I don't know if the rest of the country thinks we are a bunch of hippies or a bunch of thugs. And I don't know if these people know how many legal gun owners are in this state, but to ignore us is just a bad move for the cause.

As for the out of state dealers and them hurting by not selling to us here in CA.....how many other states are in the nation??? Don't think they will fell any kind of cash crunch on their end.

Remember....almost ALL of the other states get the "good" guns....AR's,AK's, full auto's, silencer's,high cap mags,etc....ONLY CA. does not.

And it is more time (which = money) and hoops for the out of state dealers to deal with. I do not blame them....I don't like it...but can't blame them for saying enough is enough CA.

IMHO...you should direct you energy towards the laws here in CA. Try and educate the people in your town about how important it is to have a country that has guns.

Prior to the last couple hundred years...people have found ways to commit murder,crime,etc., with out a gun....if someone want's to do bad...they will find a way...with or with out a gun.

I know how you feel, i used to frequent the "other" forum quite a bit but grew tired of the anti california sentiment i saw there, that and the crappy server issues. jmho

I still post on other Forums. When they start to sling mud at California, I mention that they should encourage those of us who are still here rather than tell us to give up.

Many people in other states think that we are Nuts, Eco nuts, Hippies, Gay,Thugs and Sheeple and that we pass too many laws infringing on peoples rights.
Many dealers are scared that they can be bit in the behind by selling to us and they don't know Kali law. If you look under Sponsers/Vendors here on the site, we have some great people to buy from. You will find alot of Kali bashing on other sites, They only see and hear the wierd and bad stuff on the news about us. Hey we do have the best weather, maybe thier a little jealous about it. Anyway don't let it bug you, There are many dealers that will still ship to Kali and to be honest you'll find some Kali bashing here at times.

I'll have to disagree with Stan. CA has more money than any other state in the union. When the CA market opened up to OLLs there was and is so much demand that lead time and prices have gone up. The same thing has happened with AK kits.

If an individual or dealer will not sell to CA they will have to settle for lower prices and slower sales.

As long as there are some dealers and individuals willing to help CA, we will be able to get what we want and need. We may not get the best deals, but I don't live in CA because it's cheap.

No sales to ANYONE INCLUDING law enforcement. All these gun laws and restrictions obviously make the state a very safe place. Our cops need nothing more powerful than a 38 sixgun.

Just remind those on other forums. Californians are analogous to the greek Spartans. We're on the front lines and have to take it over and over. Much like waves hitting a sea wall. Abandoning us is bad for all.

Supporting us may be a hassle, but if not stopped here, then where?

Has anyone tried to get the proprietors of Gunbroker to take a stance. Like educating them on the laws so that they can have a form e-mail available to send to sellers afraid of CA laws. Only to try and educate them, not to force them.

Huh. Well, for the most part, we are. Is there ever much in conveyance to convince them otherwise? What ever appears in the media, especially as of late in the past 10 years, to show them anything different? If such media transmission ever does exist, it is such a rare bit, they would have to proactively search for to flush it out, distill it for their own satisfaction, and that is unlikely to happen.

We here on Calguns are an esoteric group, whether you believe we are many or not; in the proportions to the number of people in CA, we are quite small, and in view of that, even a small group among firearm owners. Now it may not seem that way, but it is. What is something like 350,000 OLLs and OLRs (approximate number since 10/2005?) to the multiple millions of gun owners that exist in CA, without their having ever heard of an OLL or OLR or ?

I just had a conversation the other day with a life-long Californian, Afghanistan veteran (has been back for at least 3 years), Marine, in his late 20's now, and while he owns a few handguns, a shotgun, and a Mini-14, he had never heard of OLLs or Calguns. We got into talking about ARs/AKs and the advent of OLL/OLRs and he was shocked, doubtful, and skeptical over the issue. I just told him two words would answer all his questions: "Calguns.net" and "FAQ" .

So, I say again - there is very little outside of CA to show California in any other light. OLLs and OLRs in CA and the seemingly secret headway that a small group of gunowners have made, does not make headlines in Beaver, PA... legalizing gay marriages do get that print. A tough chin turned into the punch of the DOJ by creating the .50-DTC cartridge registers very little if at all in any Idaho newspaper, not even a 2" X 2" article on page 32-C buried among sports news from around the globe, nary a sideline even in gun oriented rags, yet headlines about California Eco activists and gang-related crime is lavished in bold print on page 1. It sells.

Every time we pass laws infringing on peoples rights (and I say we, because as a whole, to outsiders and their point of view, votes are lodged as a "them" and all) or say "we" put anti-2nd Amendment shills in office, there go the headlines screaming what "we" have done. However, should we make a leap against such ill, not a paper anywhere will pick it up - it's not shrill enough, it doesn't hit anyone's angst. How California is banning something gets on peoples nerves better, incites readership reaction and shock value, and those are the stories remembered. It's also always fun to have someone to single out and hate; you see it in all areas of society, in sports, and you see it among entertainment. There is always the team to bag on or the celebrity to kick, and bag again and kick again, and never let them up until they fade away, change their ways, or sink horribly to never be seen again. yes, most of the rest of the country (except NY) would love to see out current CA sink into the Pacific.

It's fun and profitable for the media elsewhere to prop up California as a freak show carnival geek when it comes to being Nuts, Eco nuts, Hippies, Gay, Thugs, and Sheeple that pass too many laws infringing on peoples rights; we are the bearded lady and the half-man/half-sheep in their eyes.

Moral of the story? Changing that depends on us. We are the only messengers to the outside world that things are not as they appear, that not all of us are as the Anti-2nd Amendment groundlings lime-light this theatre or erect their sail-less masts. It is our small group that must guide the bow, smash it into the their darkest dense wave of falsehood, and break through to a better horizon that lies just behind it. Unfortunately it is a two-ended fight, as we must fend off internally elected krakens and demons that perennially come out of the sludgy depths to plague our stern. We must bring the cargo of truth to those outside of California, for they will receive it in no other manner. And until we do so, it would be foolish for us to think those outside of CA would ever being getting the truth of the matter to believe that there is any other commodity coming out of CA except that which potentially infringes on THEIR rights.

Yeah, I am with you guys on the misconceptions of CA and the people that live here. The elite "nutz" govern the hard working citizens in this state. It just got to my that we as gun owners are treated like 2nd class citizens by the CA DOJ, but to hear it on other forums just finally got to me. I don't need FFL's, parts dealers, or fellow gunowners in other states to treat me as a 2nd class citizens also. I can understand FFL's refusing to ship rifles and firearms that are on our "banned" list, but people refusing to sell perfectly legal parts kits, lowers, or other items as a form of protest to me has no excuse. I understand that they have the right to sell to anybody they want to, but to refuse a perfectly legal purchase because of the state I live in. Many people also fail to realize that we are the #1 market for firearms. They also do not know where the biggest gun show in the nation use to be held at about 15 yrs. ago, not Texas or any other state, but the Los Angeles Co. fairgrounds. And when you try to expalin the legality of what you are buying, they refuse to listen.

If anyone here ever thinks we are going to get some kind of consensus among Californian's on ANYTHING, just take a look around at this sorry collection of misfits, transplants, mutts, wackjobs and lost souls! Nearly everyone here since the great depression came as a displaced person of some sort or another. I know that growing up in the 50's I was amazed at how I was pretty different because I was born here, and we have sucked up a pretty goofy lot since then. Hell, we got BIG numbers of people here who can't even talk to each other, much less share a worthwhile thought.

The politico's have found that it is easier to pander to as many of these "special interest" groups as possible than it is to actually stand for anything worthwhile. What really pisses off the rest of the country is we got so many bodies out here, these schitzophrenic politican's are having a big influence on the national scene ( Pelosi, Feinstein, Boxer to name a few.) The rest of the country would just as soon the whole bunch of us fell off in an earthquake.
