Respectfully things could have turn out different and people who bought $2500 ARs could have well been right.

Would you have predicted the massive loss of rights in cali?

Buying car insurance and not having an accident, in hindsight looks like a gigantic mistake too.

fact is the premium would have been a discount if some of these laws got traction

      I learned:
Buy a lot more stuff, just to resell because its easy money. I could have funded my whole move.

        It will happen again.

So true. I wish I would have acquired more green cans of green tips when they were on sale for $129-
But I guess Im going to have to settle for the pallet I already have

I'm glad I got what I did in the years prior. It's unfortunate I had to sell off quite a bit before the scare to buy a home. I could have doubled my money.

Patience. I've had a deposit on a 6" S&W 686+ since late June. It really isn't bothering me as I have other guns to shoot. Also, waiting for the reloading components is not as bad when you don't even have the gun yet.

Learned that having a 1,000 rnds for each weapon is a good start but not enough. I learn that since I got into guns there will be multiple panics. I learned that lazy people pay higher prices and can get in my way of shooting cause they buy everything up. I learned that scavengers will hit up every Walmart and store and selt the ammo on the web at hugh prices lazy people will only pay for.

I'm with the people on the side just pouring water in the glass trying to get a drink!

I also learned that reloading isn't cheaper cause you're doing the work and finding the supplies. I rather just buy my ammo and be done with it.

I learned not to panic and buy things at double their retail value. Ouch

                        I didn't learn anything -

                        This wasn't my first rodeo....

But Im always surprised at how "shocked" everyone is as prices increase in response to demand -

                        Comical...........

I guess it forced me to reload, which turned out to be a great stress reducer... I dunno.

I do kick myself for selling bricks of 22 when it started.

Wish I could walk into my ww and buy 22 or 9mm....

I was doing a ppt and eyeing a colt ar. Asked the guy about it and he said it will be gone tonight. I didn't believe him. So I learned that I was once ignorant.

I learned that people quickly forget what history has taught us. I find it funny that many people on this forum consider 2008 to have been a "bad year". Lets take a step back in time...I'm in my mid-thirties and I remember when you could walk into a gun store in LA and buy an AK-47...not only that but they were on racks in the middle of the store for a "kid" like me to pick up and fondle...no one looked at me funny either. I couldnt afford the AK so I saved up my money and bought the SKS...not my first gun either. Then these all went away...Good ole "Assault Weapons Ban".

Once that expires, we get a little break before the 2008 election and everyone freaks out, thinking its going to happen again...panic buying ensues. Obama ruled "Gun Salesman of the Year"

2012 rolls around and people start the buying early during the campaigning. This time they dont know why they are doing it...just that the last time Obama was elected there was a panic. (see...people already forget the "why").

End of 2012 and we have the perfect storm...Newtown and Obama reelected...panic ensues and people cry...why didnt you warn me. Those of us who saw the writing on the wall and know our history sat back and started hitting the range on Saturday's, enjoying the relative comfort of shooting our stores of ammo and not having to wait an hour for a lane.

In short...you do not have to have lived through a particular time to have learned a lesson...you simply need to read up on it and be able to take away the wisdom that it imparts. I suggest you do some reading on the Great Depression because that is the next party we have to look forward to.
