$6 was worth the price. Wow, you have to forfeit a six pack of beer for a week, but do some cool stuff with your kid, geez.

I'm curious what age is for kids getting in for free? Took mine earlier this year but both are under 5 so I knew I was clear. There is always an age that they start charging. Ca gun shows are over priced anyway, yes they have some nice firearms don't see anywhere else. Take them to a Bass Pro Shop and, shooting galleries and tons of stuff for kids.

Bingo! That's why I gave up on the SJ Gun Show years ago.
Now I make it a point to spend $15 at my local gun shop
on gun show weekend. At least that way I have something to show for my money.

Half the gun shows I attend my son gets a toy, my daughter gets jewelry, and I get a lighter wallet. Kids definitely do more than take up space. I always enjoy free stuff, but $6 ain't that much to spend to get out the house.

I can get charging more if people are going for somthing specific and don't have a choice but sometimes I just want to go to browse (maybe impulse buy) and paying for parking and then a ticket when you might not buy anything anyway is a turnoff. And it has to be worse if you take kids with you.

And just because kids can't buy for themselves doesn't mean dad won't buy stuff for them. That's lost business if you're pushing them away as well.
It might be the venue. I don't think the crossroads show in OC charged for kids. Then again I worked with a lot of glue today.

                Good input from both sides.

I am cheap, i'll admit that. In my industry, i do plenty of shows. They are selling/ informational shows. basic food and drinks are usually provided. The customer/ visitors are never charged a DIME. It is always free for the attendee, including adults.

At these shows, it is my responsibility to SELL. If i don't get up off my butt and hustle, I'm not earning my keep. I just don't see the ROI.

Very true. That's is a good way to think of it.

$6 bucks is a paltry sum compared to what anyone of us here on the forums have spent over the years.

Gun shows in California suck. Everything is retail plus 25% minimum.

With correct math, it totaled $18. Based on my buddies feedback who went, he said I didn't miss anything. It wasnt really a gun "show." So, it would have been a waste. Would you pay an entrance fee to get into Wal-mart, just so you can shop?

Next time you go to a LGS that has the Crossroads of the West poster with tear off $1 off tickets ask the owner if he has any spare vip passes. Each poster comes with 2 free passes. I get 4 passes at a time and they expire at the end of the year. My long time customers get about 20 free passes for the SAR show.
