    Chico Gun Show- Rant

I wanted to take my son and my friends son to the gun show here in Chico this weekend. I thought it would be a good opportunity to show my friends son all the things 2A related. Both kids are twelve. I knew there would be a $6 fee for me, but little did I know they wanted to charge $6 per kid as well. $24 just to go in to a tiny gun show?!?!? I said no way, turned around and went to the free flea market next door.

This chaps me because we should encourage attendance by children so that they grow up with a positive view on our constitutional rights. Why charge for kids that cant really buy anything there? No wonder it feels like we are losing the fight. Seems like profit comes before rights...

    Cool story bro!

They can't buy then they take up the room of someone that can buy?

That's the only thing I can think the organizers would be thinking. Sucks big time and I agree they should let young kids in and get the next generation interested.

6 bucks is cheap to introduce a kid to what may be a lifetime interest in firearms, hunting, and potentially a proper political mindset.

Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

Kind of lame. As many people as I see at the Crossroads gunshow in SD, I'm always perplexed at why tickets are so expensive.

I would think cheaper tickets, more people, more money from tickets. More people, more people buying from vendors, more vendors wanting to rent booths, more money.

I can get charging more if people are going for somthing specific and don't have a choice but sometimes I just want to go to browse (maybe impulse buy) and paying for parking and then a ticket when you might not buy anything anyway is a turnoff. And it has to be worse if you take kids with you.

And just because kids can't buy for themselves doesn't mean dad won't buy stuff for them. That's lost business if you're pushing them away as well.

I dunno, you could put that money into taking them to the range instead and they'd probably have a better time.

Sure, that goes without saying. But a gunshow will expose them to things they won't see normally. Seeing an original Colt 1860 or a Sharps rifle...that kind of stuff might whet their interest in a special way...I know it did me.

              Damn Capitalist

How dare someone want to feed their family, make a living, save for retirement and afford obamacare. Scum of the earth those capitalist for wanting a killer $6 for promoting a show, renting a hall, complying with all those regulations and meeting all those vendor demands too. Sure wish we have a socialist America where we could be entitled to anything we want for free dang it!

I can't believe the "needs" of some people.

The other day at the airport I purchased a "Razer thin turkey sandwich", one oatmeal cookie and a small coffee and the total was $27.60 .........

I would have rather took my two kids to a gun show for that!

and don't forget running a gun show sometimes involves facing legal bills............

Sometimes it seems like half of posts on this form or complain about entitlements and the other half are demanding entitlements.

Kids can buy lots of things at gun shows. Well, if their cheap parents let them.
